I am a retiring Air Force pilot and am currently instructing undergraduate RPA pilots. I have over 4000 hours mostly in the C-130, but also flew the Cessna 208 in Afghanistan as an air advisor. I have a CMEL rating and am going to get an ATP in the next 6 months.
Some questions I have are 1) Should I apply to the majors after being out of the cockpit for 4-5 years or should I focus on the regionals? 2) As long as I have a first class medical, do the airlines care if I have a medical waiver? Do I need to disclose that on my application? 3) I was arrested for a DWI 10 years ago, sleeping in a running vehicle with elevated BAC (STUPID), I did my Air Force mandated treatment. What is the best way to attack that? I want to be honest and upfront from the beginning.
Thanks in advance and Good luck, we’re all counting on you.

Hello everyone. I found this forum as I browsed the net looking for resources and sites that allowed people to discuss their aviation interests. I am not a pilot but have always had an interest in aeronautics and aviation. I'm an attorney and my practice is exclusively in municipal law, which does allow me to delve into some aviation law issues since some of my clients, who are all cities and other local governmental entities, have airports.
I've taken some time to explore the threads in some of the forums and I don't see anyone else on here who isn't a pilot so I apologize if the site is exclusively for pilots only. If that is the case, please let me know and I'll respect that and join a different site. I did find one other site that says its for aviation enthusiasts and not just pilots ( I won't name it), but to be honest, its really lame. Some of you all's threads, however, are hilarious and I really enjoy reading the posts.
Finally, I did clearly notice that the vast majority of the threads are intended for actual pilot discussion and I will be sure never to intrude on those threads as a non-pilot. I only intend to comment or ask questions in threads in which non-pilot commentary appears to be welcomed.
If there are any other members who are not pilots, PLEASE let me know as I would like to know if I am not alone!!
Thank you all and be safe up there!

And you got great questions, please refer to that to the following forums:
https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/career-questions/
Or directly in the thread for the Airline that you are targeting, as those are the places on the site where experienced pilots gather to provide feedbacks and get news.
Good luck to you, welcome to the Community!! Nick

Everyone is welcome here, and we have so many non-pilots, you are in good company. You are an asset here, by providing your point of view on relevant topics, and it sounds that you have some experience w/ law, so it can't hurt for all of us to learn something more from you.
Have a look at our forums best practices, and rules of engagement, but, for the most part, if you stay on topic, you reply w/ honesty, candor and respect, anything you say will be more than appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself!
Bestest Nick
