Are you aware that Delta doesn’t provide a hotel in ATL for new hire sims if you’re based there?

Alaska doesn’t provide a new hire hotel at all either.
Alaska does provide all new hires with a hotel until the end of IOE.

Alaska has provided hotels for training for at least 5 years now. Delta started giving hotels over a year ago. I think Hawaiian is the only airline now to not provide hotels.

News travels slowly and things happen even slower in the islands. If it’s anything like first year pay, HAL may eventually have to provide new hire hotels. Who knows what year that might actually occur.

Love it. Justifying no hotels for new hires. “It’s Hawaii bruh, you don’t like it, don’t come here”. Stockholm Syndrome.

We've had guys in the left seat and others with 5+ years leaving for United and Delta.
Just food for thought if you are really considering the best career move.
Senior management really needs to get their priorities straight.

To be fair, the ones that are leaving, majority are all commuting.

commuters that made the mistake of bidding 717 captain. Interisland is a different animal. Add commuting and they made their own personal hell.

I don’t think anyone is justifying the lack of hotels for new hires. However, I’m not aware of any airline management group that spends more than what is negotiated in the pilot’s contract. We should be forthright with new hires; the increased first year pay and the 10k bonus are only recent improvements. I have not heard of training hotels being discussed.

Interestingly, the ones I know who left... none were on the 717. Fact checked: false.

And I actually know more local pilots who left, than I do transplants.

And I know some who are in a wait and see mode with this supposed Amazon deal and a mainland base.

And I know many more who want to leave but are weighing options and running numbers to justify the hits to pay, seniority, family situations vs. just riding it out for 10 years or so.

They have their priorities...

Unfortunately, it's throwing the best parades and having custom tailored made men's dresses. The rest just doesn't matter. How many competitors are going to break even or be in the black this year?

Food for thought: I won't even let my oldest follow HA's social media anymore. It has gotten that ridiculous.
