EAGLEFLY: out of 2000+ pilots at AE you and a few others are backing up the AE dream to FO DOOMSDAY.
Let the new applicants know what is like to be in RSV, Commute, UPGRADE and starting pay x (the monthly RSV guarantee) minus (benefits, ALPA (after 1st yr) and Taxes).
Tell them about the great training and about the 135 style PC's. About the good people.
Tell them about the FLOW program. Tell them about paying to commute, ON AA, FOR the first 5 years.
Tell them when you have to explain yourself after a sick call.
I miss the good ppl I worked with, NOT the ones I work for. Out of my 2001 class at AE (40-45 guys/gals), 2 remain, and HAVE NOT UPGRADED.
I think that you will find 1 in 5 disgruntled pilots that still work there or not.
I know the market is not the best, but SHOP AROUND first. To choose AE only because the are taking applications, and not weighting in BASE, SALARY, ETC is foolish.

First of all, AE isn't a "dream"...........but it isn't a nightmare either (see the Mesa thread or go to Gulfstream etc.).
RSV, commuting and starting pay have been well known for DECADES...........they were that way when I got hired too (only no one whined and complained like so many do now). As I said before a first year F/O on an RJ can make 30K their first year with per diem. Most pack their own food and would spend no more eating on the road then at home or in another job.
Upgrade is long, but may or may not get shorter.............er, that's been known for a decade.
Flow program..............what flow program ?
Eagle is no different than any other regional..........there is none.
Yes........it could cost upwards of $15 to commute on an AA/AE flight...........but only if you fly on AA/AE. It IS an aspect of this job that is reality, although I realize some are angry they don't get positive space in first class. Of course, when you're flying, you're also not driving your car around and one should subtract the amount of money saved there...........I know that doesn't work well for many as it makes complaining more difficult.
Not a lot of pilot jobs out there to be choosy with right now.
But I'll throw you a bone and let these pilots know that ;
1. Yes, it's unlikely you'll be a 25-year old 3000 hour part 121 airline jet captain at Eagle.
2. This means that dream of being a 30-year old 777 F/O is also unlikely, which does in fact put that 100K salary and the visit to the Porsche dealer in a bit of a delay.
3. ..........and finally because of the above, that 757 captains slot by your 35th birthday may not happen and thus the 500K house you hoped to throw that 13th graduation anniversary with your college frat buddies may go to someone else.
To those of you considering Eagle, there you go......no guarantees. If you believe your current position is better in the long run, I'm sure you wont waste your time coming here. The absolute LAST thing you want to do is end up a hopless whiner because you failed to do the due dilligence that so many before you did and prove it by getting on pilot webboards and demonstrating exactly that.
No one says you have to STAY at Eagle and it might make a decent move for a year or two, especially if you have no 121 or turbojet time and also don't listen to the "pilots" (loose term) who flunked out of new-hire training here either who get their jollies by attempting to retaliate against Eagle.
Best of luck to those interested.
