I'm reading these post by a couple of you who are claiming to "educate" the younger folks, which is cool and all, but everyone has/had different experiences. Yeah, if the opportunity comes, I'm jumping ship too. But working at Eagle isn't too much different than working at some of the other regionals.

Everyone has their ups and downs, pros and cons. So far, everything my old man told me about 121 life has come true and he used to work for ATA and that's not a regional.

This job is a piece of cake. For the folks who whine and complain, I challenge you to spend 7 days straight for 3 months to a year turing wrenches in the middle of the desert, in a combat zone trying to generate combat aircraft for sorties. Sitting RSV is waaay better than that B.S. Did that crap for 13 years fellas!

So for me, the grass is greener, a different shade of green, but greener.

I picked Eagle because I wanted to live in Dallas and was ready to make the transition from active duty AF maintenance to flying professionally. I was 32 so way to old for military flyng and didn't have the mins for anyone else (I had 1200TT 100ME). I also got hired my Mesaba and Piedmont.

Does the pay suck? Yup!! If you have no other income. Does RSV suck? Yup! Does upgrade time suck? Yup! But for some of us, that's not on the radar.

Here's a question, where should these guys start if the regionals aren't the answer? Where should I have started? CFI'n? Fly'n check's? Continue to fly pipeline?

I don't plan to stay here my entire career. But if I have to, I will. Am I any less of a person if I do?

If there is better, hook me up with a job.

Then don't come. Where are you at now? I probably wouldn't come there myself.

For everyone who trashes Eagle, when I went there over 10 years ago, I could look at myself in the mirror. Why? I didn't buy my job.

Comair, ASA, RAH, Xjet, Pinnacle and several others were PFT.

Skywest was just that. Out west. Didn't live west of the Rockies, not much luck getting an interview.

Mesaba was similar except up North.

I made captain in 2 years on paper. 9-11 changed all that and Eagle was not allowed to grow due to scope at AA and being wholly owned could not look for outside flying.

IMO, today's treasure is yesterday's trash. It goes in cycles.

BTW, no SJS. Never flew it. I never got off the blender. By choice.

Side note, nice to see you on the board Rich K.

congrats!

I wonder if they are actually sticking to that "12 month current flying job" requirement. There are a ton of furloughed guys out there with plenty of experience that haven't flown much or at all in the last year. I don't know, but I think it would be pretty screwed up if they take CFIs that have been flying instead over furloughed guys.

1. Any feedback about the birth certificate?

2. I know AE is interviewing quite a few current CFI's. Not sure if it's the consistency of flying or teaching or what. I fly around 35-50 hrs a month on average. 60 tops.

What's the birth certificate for? I can't remember needing one.

That's most likely the same amount of time that I fly every month. I wish I could have 1,000 me. Well that's the bad part of fly in the caribbean.

Dunno....I just know the birth certificate was on the list of docs to bring. Should I call them? Might be better than showing up without it. Also, the recruiter asked if I was currently instructing & if I had completed the RJ program....FYI.

Dude...read a previous post....TAKE EVERYTHING THAT THEY ASK FOR!!! If you can't follow directions on what you need to bring/have with you, why should we hire you?

Get it?
