You want to leave Atlas for HAL? I thought I read recently about HAL pilots leaving FOR Atlas (may have been FedEx). Is it bad over there, because most of the pilots I've talked with seem to enjoy Atlas.
I'm trying to work at HAL and I didn't get anything positive or negative from the latest window. I travelled to PHNL a few weeks ago and was able to get a couple of recommendations from line pilots. Best time ever bro!
I probably need some more experience but I think eventually i hope to make it in when the competition is less steep in the next two yrs. I heard of guys flying inter-island medivac stuff who made it in without flying anything larger than turboprops. Maybe that's the ticket.

Peace

Seriously, I'm bald, but when I read posts like this it makes me want to pull what little hair I do have left right out of my head. Do you talk like this in conversational English? If you do, please please please do not ever fly with me in this lifetime.

I'm not even old yet...haven't passed 40 trips around the sun and this drives me nuts! Lol....maybe I'm just an old soul.

I think its painful to anyone over 21.

kingairfun 10-24-2014 12:30 AM

Oh dear god.....do not let that guy ever be considered......

I can just about picture him calling everyone BRO downstairs....

Dude... bro.

Hawaiian Airlines Hiring

Any calls yet?

Shifty 10-25-2014 11:28 PM

Out of the 50 that interviewed? Don't know. Probably next week or the next.

boarderdw 10-29-2014 05:23 AM

Any fellow interviewees hear anything yet?

Redan 10-29-2014 01:31 PM

Interviews just concluded late last Thursday and I believe interviewees were given the impression to not expect to hear anything for at least a couple of weeks.

Further testing

silver fleet 11-06-2014 08:15 AM

Anybody that has done this newest interview format care to share for tho
se of us that did it under the old regime (the 2 day process)? Cheers!

boarderdw 11-07-2014 03:12 AM

Sim, aptitude tests, 2 panel interviews. If that goes well, called back weeks later for psyche eval. Straight forward process.

silver fleet 11-07-2014 08:40 AM

Sounds the same as before then, just condensed into one day versus two. Thanks!

torpid0 11-07-2014 01:11 PM

The other difference is that this time around, it feels like an interview at a major airline. Much more professional and the new facility is impressive.

Do you think we could assume that those who are going to be called for "phase3" or "further testing" have already been contacted?

Depends on how many have been called so far.... From past experience I would think they do their contacting all at once. Especially for a small number like this....

Same with job offers. Calls go out almost consecutively....one after the other.

boarderdw 11-08-2014 11:03 PM

Next phase calls were for Nov 12th.

What aircraft is used for the sim portion?

AtlCSIP 11-10-2014 09:55 PM

I'm in Hawaii this week. Any possibility of talking with someone at HAL while here? Anybody know how to do that?

boarderdw 11-12-2014 05:56 AM

Wasn't able to make it to today's psyche eval. Anyone know if they'll be running any more evals in the near future? Or was this it until 2016? Thx

You got called for the final phase and couldn't make it?

Indeed. Coming from the opposite side of the world isn't easy with short notice.

Just have your people call their people.

Basically you just turned down a job offer. Good one.

Maybe. Maybe not. I guess good thing I have a really good job right now. Don't get me wrong, I'd really like to work at HAL someday, but a guy can only do so much to make it happen. It's 22 hours of flying for me to get to Hawaii. I used the last of my time off to make it to the first phase of the process. Who knows, maybe one of the really cool unemployed guys from my interview group will get my slot. That's totally fine with me.

You've just earned my respect my friend.

ridinhigh 11-13-2014 06:58 AM

No kidding,
The kind of person HAL want's and they get short called and unrealistically asked to just appear in HNL.
Maybe not all the way towards making this a major airline interview yet.
Good luck to you, and us.

Socalod 11-13-2014 12:48 PM

Has any of the 50 who interviewed in October received a thanks but no thanks email? and does anybody know how many did phase 2 last week? Did all 15 go to phase 2?? Thanks

It really would be nice to know the answers to these questions. All I know is that I, and the only other interviewee I'm in contact with haven't heard a peep from HAL.

90% of the time, if you get called for this last phase, that means they want to hire you. From what I've seen in the past, they'd usually give you another chance in the future if you cannot make it the first time, especially if they called you on short notice.

mtnchica 11-13-2014 03:28 PM

Haven't heard anything yet. Would love to know how many were called in for Phase 2. Anyone have an idea? Still Hopeful!

boarderdw 11-15-2014 01:01 AM

Take this for what it's worth... when they called about phase 2,
they said that depending on how many could make it Nov 12, they MIGHT have another phase 2 date in early December. Keep the hope alive :)

mtnchica 11-15-2014 12:36 PM

Absolutely! It would be fantastic! :)

beebopbogo 11-21-2014 10:14 AM

Still no word back from my Oct 2014 interview. They said they would let us know one way or the other in "a short period of time" which I assumed would be about 2 weeks. Since there hasn't been word in over a month now, it seems logical to think they WOULD have another ground school in December. If not, why would they remain silent?

And in case anyone's curious:
5000TT
2000 Turbine PIC
4 internal recs
Live on island

In the crew room today, I saw the names of the 4 in Sept 25 class, and then there was a new memo of the 3 in the Dec class.... one female and two guys, that's all I can tell you.

4runner 11-21-2014 08:54 PM

REDAL, good attitude. I'm also in the same boat, 4 leg, 3 continent to get back to East Coast but I've done it. If I couldn't, I let them know so that another brother in arms can show off his or her stuff. All the best and maybe we can buy each other beers sometime.

boarderdw 11-21-2014 09:16 PM

Received another email today asking to pick from a late Nov or early Dec final phase date. Really happy that I'll be able to make it in Dec. Keeping the hope alive!

ridinhigh 11-22-2014 09:00 AM

Hopefully one can work out for you, good luck.
Now you just have to be ' normal ' on the final phase ;)
