Anyone know when it will open?

Excellent, thanks for the update!

4 guys did phase III with the good Doctor on the 27th. Sue said a "small class" beginning of October. They were Sept. Oct. Nov. 2012 phase I&II. Sounds like possibly more. They will be going to a new hiring format. Congrats to the new 18!

Are all 18 coming from previous interviews or will new interviews be held?

If I'm reading that correctly... you're saying that HAL does their own physicals? Or is that an in house term for some higher up?

Dear god man.

tikicarver 09-03-2014 06:03 PM

what do you mean by "they will be going to a new hiring format"?
Are you saying after these 4, or after this vacancy bid is filled?

silver fleet 09-04-2014 03:44 PM

Will the 18 be coming from the current pool?

Cruz Clearance 09-04-2014 05:46 PM

Is their a pilot friendly AME to recommend in the HNL area?

(Reposted from the Pilot Health Section, no replies)

tikicarver 09-04-2014 08:44 PM

I'm wondering, did anyone ask Flt Ops if they will be opening a new window or filling the vacancies from the pool?
You know what Mama said, Never hurts to ask.

Rama 09-05-2014 08:59 PM

Online app window will be open Sep12-21. Will also have to e-mail a resume in during that window.
Rumors in the puzzle palace say about 1,000 pilots around 2020.

Does anyone know where pilot jobs are posted for applicants once the window opens? I am writing this (early) morning on the 12th and I do not see any pilot jobs posted on the Hawaiian air site for external applicants just yet.

tikicarver 09-12-2014 09:24 AM

It will be in the location you looked at, just not posted yet.

There are only 18 positions for the B717 (inter island ) so if you get the job you WILL be seat locked for years.

It's a 2 year seat lock right?

captfurlough 09-13-2014 09:25 PM

I believe that the first four of the eighteen are coming from the previous pool. In effect then, there are 14 openings. Don't worry about what airplane you're going to be assigned...just get the job.

M20EPilot 09-14-2014 06:25 AM

Application in, but man there are a couple tricky areas. I should have at least one letter of rec coming from a HA pilot in the coming week, but at the time of applying I said 'No' to letters of rec as I did not receive one just yet. It doesn't look like you can go back and edit that part later. The question on flight time gave only two choices, for how much turbine PIC you had... no option for '0'.

I emailed them about this and it has been fixed, there is now an option for no PIC time.

Did they change it for you? I cannot seem to access that part of the app again without having to redo everything.

tikicarver 09-14-2014 01:13 PM

there are now 4 options for that question:
none, 0-500,500-100, or over 1000

321pilot 09-15-2014 02:49 AM

FYI, the app asks three semi-essay questions. Not sure if the site would time out on you if you took too long, but it would be good to have answers to these questions:
- Please tell us what attracted you to flying, and how you came to this point in your aviation career.
- Tell us something about yourself that we may not otherwise learn during the application process.
- Why do you want to work for Hawaiian Airlines?

Good luck!

They emailed me a new link to update the app. Try emailing them and see if they can do the same for you.

App is in...competition will be tough. Mahalo for all the great insights here!
Just hoping for an interview. Please baby Jesus, mother ocean, and all that is holy.
Recommend preparing 321's questions in word and be ready to paste into app. There is no ability to save and return.

Any words surfacing on the change in interview format? Still the Farq gauntlet?

captfurlough 09-17-2014 08:33 PM

Rumor is several hundred applications already, for about 14 openings. Extremely competitive, shear numbers and math make this a tough go this time around. These openings are for retirements...but don't be discouraged...if you really want to fly for Hawaiian the real hiring will occur late 2016 / early 2017; so you have time to get your qualifications and references / letters of recommendations. It's an excellent career choice, particularly if you want to live the island life...best of luck!!!!
