Wish I could remember. I’ll look tomorrow and see if I have a copy still lying around.

Finally got a call and got the interview scheduled in Seattle. I got accepted into Skywest's Pilot Pathway while waiting as well. Has anyone stayed in Skywest's program while in Horizon PDP as an insurance?

Yes. I’m also in Mesa’s Cadet Program….but not taking the $$ from Mesa.

I would definitely be hesitant to join the Horizon program right now if you want fast and predictable career progression. Try to do it on your own and then maybe come here if we start growing.

Default PDP Timeframe

I’m a rotor guy transitioning to fixed. Got the $12.5k from
Horizon. I Just need my 25 multi and I’ll be at mins. I am a bit concerned with how long I’ll be waiting for training, on reserve and upgrading. Is it better that I just keep my
options open and potentially deal with commuting over the extended time and unpredictability of Horizons future? As much as I’ve heard good things about the culture there, I don’t want to severely delay my career anymore than I already have.

Get your mins then see what they say about a class and make your decision from there. What other options have you explored?

You won’t be “delaying” anything by coming here. You are correct to say horizon has a great culture because it does as well as a great training program. My class had a 100% pass rate as opposed to what I’m hearing over at oo (70%) oo also has a near 4 month sit after passing the sim ride before ioe while horizon has 2 weeks. I would keep my options open if I were you but just know horizon still has some pretty competitive time slots with regards to other regionals.

Ive looked into oo and Mesa. But I know training times and commuting would be something I’d have to deal with, especially with Mesa. I’ve also considered some 135 options. I think I’m just looking to starting building jet time and making some kind of money. I’ve done the helicopter life and just want something that has consistency and somewhat of a more predictable future. Just trying to figure out my best path to flying for pay and it not being another 6 years of instructing and bouncing around. Horizon feels good but when I ask a lot of pilots what upgrade times will be once I get there, it’s a big shoulder shrug.

Good to know the training is what it is. I’ve heard that from a few others as well. I guess I don’t really have that many options currently. In The last PDP conference call with Eric, he said if you were to have mins today, you could expect a training date in early 2023. Which is fine. I’m just looking at the long term timeline and where I can go that’ll keep me moving along and progressing. In the mean time I can just keep chasing ratings (CFI,CFII, MEI, SES).
