The Shilo is 65 or 70

It's not the greatest place, but the Roadway Inn worked well for me. There is a shuttle and you earn points.

Also I have been gone for three months and still getting premium pay texts. Lol

I'm a middle of the pack Q400 captain based in Portland. My schedule for July has been horrible. I've also gotten at least a dozen texts for premium pay in the last 48 hours. It's the first time I've seen "green" trips (150% pay) in quite a while.

As a cruel experiment, I've decided to bid reserve for September. I will report back with my findings.

I don't doubt that a couple of the bases are overstaffed. I'm still puzzled by the huge number of Spokane overnights (thought we had a base there?) and reserve utilization in Medford (why the heck do we need airport reserve in Medford?). Boise seems to be somewhat understaffed at the moment.
I prefer to come to work credit as much as I can and get more days off. A grin and bear it concept which nets more time away from this place. A necessary evil to maintain quality of life. There is no such thing of quality of life at work. Got to get it where you can.

I’ve talked to a few Q captains looking to transition over. They have in the range of 4+ years with the company. My guess is SEA Q captains would at least be considering the transition over given the steady drop in SEA Q lines. I think both Q and E FO’s who are just qualifying for upgrade into the jet are dreaming if they think they have a shot at a jet upgrade right away. Too many more senior Q captains looking to transition over.

Dang! That's quite a change from hiring street CA a year or two ago to 4+ year seniority. Times are changing!

I'm sure a Q400 is more difficult to fly than 175. So why not be paid the same?

Because your pay has nothing to do with how difficult the job is and everything to do with productivity. 175’s yield more revenue per hour than the Q.
