We fly the 175 from RDM to PDX now. 15 minutes. I doubt that's cheaper than the Q.

Come on the E can't beat the Q by 7 minutes on that route

Yesterday, there was an announcement that the QX fleet plan has changed, again.

Instead of parking several Q's by 2020, we're now pulling two out of the desert, so the plan has changed to a loss of 1 Q400 by the end of 2020, but the last three E175's are deferred until 2023 for some reason.

Since management seems to change their mind about the fleet every couple of weeks, I'm sure they'll have something completely different by the end of this year, but at least this latest announcement will make the Q400 seniority slightly less terrible for new people.

On that stage length the difference in cost would probably be negligible. On average the revenue generated by the jet is higher.
The three jets we had deferred have now been canceled.

How do you know this? Seats are sold through Alaska per CPA do not take aircraft type into consideration esp. on short haul. Otherwise jet op costs are higher, an extra >1000lbs/hr fuel alone not to mention higher capitalized costs and associated interest.

How do you know they’ve been cancelled?

Alaska announced it on the company page: "Alaska has also cancelled orders for three E175s that were to be operated by SkyWest, preferring instead to focus on meeting regional capacity needs with Horizon’s new fleet plan."

But that doesn't necessarily mean the deferred ones were cancelled, right?
Unless I'm reading this wrong, it means they cancelled three of the ones Skywest would operate and deferred three QX jets for 2023. They didn't cancel those yet.

You’re talking about things that Alaska Airlines says as if they’re real. That’s genuinely funny.

Has anyone seen the Compass ALPA memo about Alaska giving preferential hiring to their pilots?
