No, let's see it.

I haven’t seen it yet. A friend of mine at Compass told me about it and I’ve been trying to get a copy.

FYI, classes seem to be starting up again and I got slotted in after waiting since spring.

Most junior SEA dash CA award went to a new hire for those curious.

Appears most Nov E175 CA slots where filled with Q captains jumping ship to the 175. As snacky said most junior Q capt is 3/19 and most junior E175 upgrade was 12/16. The jet has gone back to going senior.

Have an interview coming up soon. Hoping to be able to get the Q in SEA on the captain side.

This may be a fallacy but if someone is a Q CA looking to jump to the jet then they most likely not worried about pathways or moving on to a major? Causing more stagnation on that side of the operation?
I have a feeling QX is going to be pushing 175 FO's to upgrade on the Q.. before now that was speculation but seems a reality.

Not necessarily. They may think a new type rating in a newer aircraft actually improves their chances of going to a major. Or perhaps they just prefer the 175 routes. It’s not like it hurts them any senioritywise.

Stagnation for whom? The 175 FOs? It certainly will. Most Q CAs are likely to be senior to pretty near any 175 FO. Probably senior to many of the 175 CAs for that matter.

I would think that if the senior Q captains are bidding over to the Q that fact alone would mean fewer 175 upgrades (and more Q upgrades) would be available to 175FOs without QX management even becoming involved. Just the seniority system at work.

I realize this question might be better directed to an official source, but is there any indication a 175 base might open at PDX? I imagine that would help alleviate stagnation in SEA, right? (not a concern for the company, I'm sure)

Probably not. The two things that will generally decrease stagnation are more flying and more attrition at the top, the latter either guys retiring or moving up to the majors. I know some 175 FOs left because they just weren’t getting enough flying time. That helped a little, but mostly just the guys junior to them.

Absent that you are sort of just rearranging the deck chairs.

That’s also complicated by the fact that generally speaking the Q guys seem to be senior to the 175 guys. So every Q that is retired is putting five more generally more senior FOs into the 175, and the most senior are getting a larger share of the 175 upgrades.

What would really screw you is if they shut the PDX base down, which would flush a lot of the senior Q people into the SEA seniority picture. I wouldn’t really expect that to happen but, hey, it’s the regionals.... who knows?
