Dude, you’re the one who said that there was no language or restrictions when there are CLEARLY both in the CBA.

You can argue all day that it’s a bad deal and I would completely agree with you. Compensation should be 5x that much in my opinion, but it isn’t. The CBA says $100 so that’s what we get.

No more than five conversions.
Must be during the DRO.
IROP 2 or 3, the conversion may be a 14 hour call out and not at the DRO.
You’re paid $100.

So $100 satisfies you when the company ARBITRARILY transitions LCR to SCR? It was during the DRO.

You are correct with the CBA reference, but does it really matter when the company transitions EVERYBODY without a reason?

You are obviously not JFK or BOS based because EVERYBODY got transitioned to SCR.

Is $100 enough for the reserve who's on for 6-16 days to commute in and wait even though there was no advisory given? And really no opentime?

Reserve grid was in the green for all reserves where I am. I could have dropped/ swapped a day up until 0259. I was expecting RSVs to get 'last day released' for tomorrow, but no, the company ARBITRARILY decided to lock everyone in.

I'm guessing you consider yourself 'winning' when you see $300 in your paycheck under the nighttime overide? I look forward to seeing your picture at the next ' JoAnna meet-and-greet'.

Rabid,

I can't help you. I'm sorry you that you're so upset with the CBA that you chose to take it out on me by insulting me. I hope you find what you're looking for by either actively volunteering in ALPA (particularly the negotiating or scheduling committee, or packing up and moving to a place that has better LCR language.)

Read the above exchanges. You said "No Language. No Restrictions." Both of those are completely false and I simply provided the reference to prove this. There is clear language, and clear restrictions. I stated we are paid $100, without any personal opinion on the matter. Your response is to insult me by calling me cheap, and then postulating questions all based on this premise. I refuse to answer any such questions.

I am, in fact, based in JFK. I just finished four days of LCR in which I flew a four-day trip. I have a 12 day block forthcoming. I anticipate being changed to SCR. It's in the contract, it's stated the company can do it, the company runs relatively short all the time, so I won't be surprised. I live locally, so it really doesn't affect me greatly. If I commuted, I would be more upset, but again, it's contractual. Perhaps, if I commuted, I would vocalize the lack of more definitive language regarding transitions from LCR to SCR to my negotiating committee in the upcoming CBA surveys regarding CBA 2022. Ideally, the monetary compensation for the conversion should cover the cost of a hotel/commuting. And the language should limit it to when the SCR reserve coverage reaches a critical threshold that is readily transparent to all on LCR.

Some things to think about.
-From someone who actively has volunteered within ALPA to better his pilot group's CBA.

Exactly.
I love getting paid as much as anyone. I have VDA'd and profited very nicely, mostly due to the company's scheduling incompetence. It's baffling how much I've seen senior captains make on a two day trip simply because of a scheduling snafu that led to a VDA. It's bad business. Yet, I am going to personally capitalize when I can, just like most pilots, so long as I am following the contract.
It's much better business sense to convert LCRs, and so long as it's done within the framework of the CBA, it's all we can do but live with it and hope it results in, wait for it, an actual profit sharing check! (holds breath).

JetBlue: *Issues RSA and VDA*
Whiners: ”OMG why can’t this stupid company fix their staffing!”

JetBlue: *Overstaffs reserves and uses contractual language to preemptively ensure coverage*
Same Whiners: ”WTF now I can’t ever get any VDA calls that I somehow believe I am entitled to!”

Well I should’ve looked at tomorrow’s DRO before posting, because it looks like a normal distribution of LCR/SCRs (not that I’m complaining). Everyone knows that you need “all hands on deck” with your Reserves the day after a weather event more than the day of. More learning needed in LSC.

A friend of mine told me that if you wanted to avoid being converted from Long Call to short call and avoid making an extra $100... that all you needed to do was, well bid short call. Crisis averted.

Move along. Do your job. Bid a line or something. If your too junior to do so, meh get on the train with the rest of us. It’s fun.
