You can base trade, if available and so long as you don’t have a new base awarded. Yes, it’s an abrogation of seniority. There should be language preventing issues like this. No newhire should be awarded a base you are qualified and senior enough to hold. There was a time when a few new hires were getting (one or two even forced) LGB, but some west coasters from previous classes were stuck (for 2 years before the seat lock changed) on the 190 commuting to the east coast waiting to get to the 320. Another example of abrogated seniority, though I understand the need for seat locks. Glad it’s down to 1 year for new hires. But I do think the base situation needs to be fixed. A regular poster on here had to wait several more months to get to FLL from a quarterly bid than some guys junior to him who did a base trade, and I believe some new hires. Worth a call to your FO rep to explain the situation, ask the unions stance on it, and voice your displeasure. Only way for things to get fixed is if people speak up. Or maybe he will have an answer that will placate you.
Hella abrogated.
