That's true, but most other mature airlines don't have a pure millisecond race to distribute open time, where the system can be gamed.

Guys should be able to hustle (work overtime) to make extra, but the system for obtaining that overtime itself shouldn't be a millisecond competition that requires you to have skills comparable to Jordan or Gretzky, and requires special tricks or games that need to be kept secret from others. That's why other mature airlines don't use this system.

And if the basic system isn't going to be changed, then flica should be reprogrammed with some guardrails. A trip should populate open time, but NOT the "add" or "swap" until 5 mins AFTER an alert has gone out, and the trip should have a countdown timer next to it that shows when it will become available for "add" or "swap". That's the only way to simply make it about speed, and not games. And that still doesn't solve the bot or cartel problems, but yeah, yeah, no bots, riiiggght.

You are a member of the 5 sandwich club, and you've been eating everyone else's sandwiches.
I can agree with this 100%. Seems the ones that don't want it changed are the one's cheeating the system, and stealing from other pilots. It's quite ovbious on who they are...

It's funny you say, Many that are known for being the "hoarders" Flica open time are the ones complaining cause they are being beat at their own game. and now they are the ones that are complaining because they can't achieve what the are accustomed to. Being babies. Sure I would love to pick something up but I am not willing to put the time in so......The only real fair way is seniority based if the playing field can't be level. I am open to suggestions.

Exactly. I think it’s crap that people are like oh you just aren’t fast enough. I’m sure we can’t build a perfect system but I sure don’t see an issue with trying to make it a little more balanced.

As for credit caps, I could be wrong but if it’s not the current covid situation and “normal times” I doubt the company would go for it. I assume it would lead to more headcount and they would never go for that.

Now if it’s to avoid furloughs that’s totally different.

Haha, right? I guarantee they will tell you all the things that sound good, but not the stuff that REALLY matters.

Ultimately, how anyone with functioning brain cells votes for either party is beyond me. Then to see how many hours you waste arguing about people that DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU is simply astounding.

This will fall on deaf ears, but smarten the F up already people. Good god.

Go live your life, enjoy your friends and family. Stop giving any of these morons in DC an ounce of your time.

You shouldn't need pro athlete level skills to have a chance at an equitable piece of the open time. Other airlines don't use a pure millisecond competition, rife with shenanigans, to distribute open time.

There are lots of good ideas and suggestions to change, or at least improve the system on bluepilots.

I'm done with the shenanigans and the same dudes getting all the open time while keeping their methods and advantages secret.

Look. The system has been the same way since we all started working here. When u couldn’t drop a trip you whined. Now the opposite. In 2008 the same thing happened. Nothing changed. And for the seniority rules people that’s in place. You have 3 rounds! To pick something up.

It’s too funny you guys let a these thoughts dance in your head. I avg 85hrs a month. I’m not defending anyone. I think there should be a cap as well. I think picking up with furloughs is a dirt bag move. Just stop spending so much time on a message board watching every hot chick go home with someone else.

You all realize the trips come out the same time every day! Have you seen what some do? A certain captain that lives in MCO but commutes and is a politician walks around with like 5 devices hooked up. Paying for superspeed routers and phone lines.

It doesn't matter how long the system has been in place. If it requires special pro athlete level skills, or special tricks, and allows small groups of people to game the system in several ways and accumulate 90+% of the open time, it's a BAD and inequitable system. You don't live with a bad system just because it's the "way we've always done it".

And not being able to drop is a staffing issue. That's not even apples and oranges. It's apples and condoms.

It really doesn't It requires having no life, or having FCFS window open and constantly refreshing until you trigger a trip before the auto refresh. I used to be really fast (or so I thought) on the FO side in BOS. Then I upgraded and realized the CAs took it to an entirely new level. As an FO, even before the virus and reduced schedule, I used to be able to wait for the FLICA alert, go to the trip, look at it, decide if I wanted it and then submit a request and more often than not, I'd get the trip.

As a CA, the guys are ridiculous. With the current situation it's even worse. So, as I'm quarantined, I sit watching Tiger King, or whatever other Netflix show that the wife and I happen to be binge watching while day drinking my 4 Roses, and I have my FLICA FCFS window open and I sit there and constantly refresh the window. I feel like a F-ing loser, but that's what it takes right now to get the trips. And I'm getting some.

I bid LCR for May, I'm bidding it again in June, and I have 2 weeks of vacation in July so I justify my loser-ness knowing this is a one month delve into the abyss. Hopefully by August it'll get a little better. If not, at least I'll be refreshed and ready to dive back in with the catfish on the bottom of the scum for another month before I bid LCR again for Sept and Oct.

BL....it's not the Bots who are beating you. Just guys willing to be tied to one computer screen all day, every day. Dive in if you want. Just be ready to take a shower after. It gets dirty.
