Terminal 5 deserted. When does it end?

It doesn't matter how long the system has been in place. If it requires special pro athlete level skills, or special tricks, and allows small groups of people to game the system in several ways and accumulate 90+% of the open time, it's a BAD and inequitable system. You don't live with a bad system just because it's the "way we've always done it".
And not being able to drop is a staffing issue. That's not even apples and oranges. It's apples and condoms.

You do realize there are some 4000 pilots trying to do the same thing. Here: the LGB/LAX DH 2 day drops roughly once a week for the last year. The inbound flight from LGB is a redeye for LGB crews with roughly 11hrs rest on the turn. Anytime that flight is delayed, which is often those guys go illegal and that trip is constructed. Is it cheating? Doing the work to see who's gonna go illegal? Knowing the phone is faster than a laptop or iPad for processing?
Are you mad at flica alerts or the people that get the trips? Seriously have seen what some of the regulars have invested in having high speed internet, fasted computer processors, etc? If people are on flick while AC while flying, sharing their passwords or using auto refresh programs its no good. The amount of time pilots spend on it is astonishing

I guess you won’t be fitted for a gold jacket anytime soon and inducted into the Flica Hall of Fame.

It really doesn't It requires having no life, or having FCFS window open and constantly refreshing until you trigger a trip before the auto refresh. I used to be really fast (or so I thought) on the FO side in BOS. Then I upgraded and realized the CAs took it to an entirely new level. As an FO, even before the virus and reduced schedule, I used to be able to wait for the FLICA alert, go to the trip, look at it, decide if I wanted it and then submit a request and more often than not, I'd get the trip.
As a CA, the guys are ridiculous. With the current situation it's even worse. So, as I'm quarantined, I sit watching Tiger King, or whatever other Netflix show that the wife and I happen to be binge watching while day drinking my 4 Roses, and I have my FLICA FCFS window open and I sit there and constantly refresh the window. I feel like a F-ing loser, but that's what it takes right now to get the trips. And I'm getting some.
I bid LCR for May, I'm bidding it again in June, and I have 2 weeks of vacation in July so I justify my loser-ness knowing this is a one month delve into the abyss. Hopefully by August it'll get a little better. If not, at least I'll be refreshed and ready to dive back in with the catfish on the bottom of the scum for another month before I bid LCR again for Sept and Oct.
BL....it's not the Bots who are beating you. Just guys willing to be tied to one computer screen all day, every day. Dive in if you want. Just be ready to take a shower after. It gets dirty.

Still other mature airlines don't use our system, and I'm struggling to see how this is the very best system available. I get why a few of you think it is the best system, but not for everyone.

There are 4,000 pilots trying to do the same, yet the same few names get almost all the trips... I guess they never sleep, or drive, or fly. There's more to it than what is being said.

I honestly don't think its the best system either But its been the same way since we all started. Back in 2008 I was ****ed off because it was so bad They busted the cartel guys and sharing passwords along with auto pickups. Maybe we should be limited to transactions? You get 5 adds, 5 swaps, 5 drops per month? I honestly don't know but its not bots. People are just watching constantly, keeping 5 window browsers open. Like Bunker said, it basically has to become a second job for you. One of the reasons I left JFK because the fab 5 were out of control. Being in FLL is way better.

100% Flica/Sabre needs to go. It would cost the company money though, and they won't do that unless forced to.

Or at the very least make some programming changes to level the field.
