So, you are ****ed about training pay, and your solution is to go to another place and start training pay all over again? Bold move. Good luck, I’m sure you will be happy at your next location…

To begin with, the training pay is really low, maybe the lowest in the industry, I’m aware of several regionals where you would make more money while in training than you do at JetBlue. The training pay is $2,000/month BEFORE taxes and benefits, which means if you are putting your family on your medical benefits your paychecks will be around $500 twice a month.
They tell you to expect six weeks of this but they have really bitten off more than they can chew down in Orlando… the first thing I found out when I got down there is that classes ahead of me were experiencing sever training delays. They are short on instructors and the sims go down for MX. Despite this they keep shoving classes of 50 pilots through every other week. We had one guy in our class who was awarded the 220 get sent home for a month. We had several guys on rolling cancelations for 3 weeks.
Once that’s all over you’d expect them to switch you to line pay no problem… and you’d be wrong. Despite the fact that they made you wait 12 weeks to complete a background check before giving you a class date, despite the fact that you’ve been on property for 3 months, and despite the fact that the CBA clearly states once a pilot has competed LOE they cutover to line pay… this is not happening. Payroll is aware we have completed LOE but they still have not completed our paperwork so they are still paying us training pay, but don’t worry they will back pay us! (Merry Christmas…) The union is aware but they tell us there’s nothing they can do and that a grievance would take too long, “by the time we made it to arbitration you will have already been paid”
So if you take the job and come here, when they make you sit in that auditorium and tell you we are all one big family. Take it from me, they don’t give a **** about you….

Canceling class 3 days before start date when covid hit after those guys had already given 2 weeks notice, sending people home 1 hour before their LOE to keep them on training pay for 15 months, and now this…welcome to blue. The union has acknowledged the pay cutover issue…hopefully it gets resolved. “You’ll get back pay when the paperwork is straightened out.” Yeah. The caring value is an abbreviation for “caring about saving money.” But, I don’t think it’s much different at JB than elsewhere tbh. You’re a cost unit to them. Nothing more. It’s a paycheck for you. Nothing more (and it’ll grow). Sucks right now, and you guys are getting shafted. But,
bringing on more newhires than they can handle (especially those beneath you) isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Max hiring is a good thing. But, there’s a reason there is record attrition right now. Just had a 38 year old 7 or 8 year airbus captain bail.

Doesn't Spirit only pay $1500/month for training pay?
And Frontier doesn't pay for housing during training, in one of the most expensive places in the country to live?
Sounds like training pay sucks anywhere outside of a major airline. Doesn't make it right, but.....

Yes your 0 hours of flying and fresh type rating are going to really make you stick out when you apply to delta or other said majors. Good luck mate. Sorry you’ve been here for 3 months are are going through 1 month of adversity here, sounds like you picked the wrong place.

Yeah, I'm sure your importance here will really dissuade anyone from coming... Like I said, you **** poor financial planning is all on you, I guess blaming everyone else is the way society runs these days. Good luck starting over again. I'm sure your finances can handle it.

At least you found out right at the beginning instead of taking a couple years to figure it out. Used to be that newhires were full of blue juice for a while coming out of there.

Well it’s felt. He feels personally attacked whenever someone points out valid criticisms of JB.

Attrition in the last 6 months is higher than it ever has been. And it’s been acknowledged in multiple pocket sessions. And it isn’t just the pilot group either. Apparently middle management and support centers are facing really bad attrition too.
Oh, and SC could be a LAX320CA right now, but chose to go start at the bottom at SWA where he won’t upgrade for a decade, especially in PHX. He’d be a top 25% B6 LAX FO almost maxed out on pay, or a junior LAX captain at B6, but he’d rather be a year 1 FO at SWA. Awesome.
And last edit: don’t get me wrong, while plenty of people leave, plenty of people stay. And the grass isn’t always greener. But calling a spade a spade is important, and when newhires are getting shafted, the company can deal with the consequences of that (ie people getting turned off by the company, airing their grievances here, and then fewer good applicants applying). Jumping on newhires who are getting screwed won’t help attract good people either.

I don't know why you guys are giving him a hard time. The Company set expectations and they're not living up to their end. He showed up, was successful in the training system and the Company is jerking him around.
