That’s helpful. As long as the company acknowledges it’s a contract violation. Hopefully they can secure a financial remedy. We (f9) we’re able to secure interest on missed DC contributions at one point. Wasn’t much but helped to set that practice that we’re not loaning you $ through missed compensation.

Fwiw they just screwed up my paycheck too. Honestly, I rarely ever deal with pay issues here, but there’s clearly some disconnect in that department lately. They acknowledged what I was supposed to be paid via email, and then paid me wrong anyway.

But they should just be happy to be here! They should’ve planned better financially for this! If they don’t like it they should leave!

New hires, you’ll know who I am when the beers are free. You’ll know who “Felt” and “say again” are when they ask for an itemized split bill. Most guys on the line are cool. Don’t let this forum make you think otherwise.

This issue needs to be addressed and not just talked about. The Union and the company both know. I’m sure they’re on top of it. I don’t think the company necessarily is trying to save 5k from a few new hires. Def not vouching for the company either. It’s a wrong first impression. You can’t talk about culture then go shaft the same new hire. Unfortunate some people can’t financially plan. I’m glad this is the only thing that happened instead of the guys at the legacies that got furloughed just last year, Could you imagine? Best of luck elsewhere if it makes sense. Don’t believe any airline will care about you. It’s a job. The whole thanks for the type isn’t really a good look either I’m sure not that you care about mine or anyones opinion.

Wow. Shame on you. Unfortunately this kind of out of touch mindset isn't uncommon in this pilot group, however.

I think it was the whole “thanks for the type ride, deuces”✌🏻that has people a little put off. Came across like a douche bag. At any rate, it is absolutely inexcusable. While I do not believe it’s intentional, our middle management is rampant with incompetence. It’s pervasive here in all departments. The applicant pool is going to dry up real quick. United is hiring pilots they wouldn’t have even looked at 3 years ago. A lot of sus training records getting through.

“Training pay is worse at Spirit”

Well first off, half the instructors at JetBlue spent time in class dissing Spirit so clearly they think JetBlue is better (I did too), and Spirit’s training is notoriously short… I would be willing to bet pilots who started the same time as me at Spirit have made more than I have by now.

The training pay is something that should be addressed if JetBlue plans to keep filling classes with quality candidates. At least cap it. The regional I started at had training pay for the first 30 days after that it was min guarantee. Might be something to think about.

“You’re bad at financial planning”

Yea well, it’s hard to do financial planning in a pandemic. It’s hard to do financial planning when you’re told to expect 6 weeks on training pay and then you show up and half bid slots include a 3 week break. It’s hard to do financial planning when you have a training schedule and it gets delayed, and it’s especially hard to do financial planning when you pass your LOE and are expecting to finally get some line pay on your next check but it doesn’t happen, and they tell you they’ll get you back on the next one and THAT doesn’t happen. Then you’re told things like “the way our payroll is set up, we can’t pay you what we owe you” WTF does that mean? You can’t cut a check?

“Your situation won’t be made better by starting over”

All of the destinations I’m considering have line pay day 1, or training pay is much higher. Fighting for my pay check is a huge red flag, I have lost all faith in this company.

Honestly I regret coming to JetBlue… I put the app in Dec 2019, I did the virtual in Jan, and then the pandemic hit. Had I known my inbox would start filling up with invites to legacy carriers, had I known I was going to be treated like this, I would have stayed. So if you’re currently at a regional making PIC and you think this would be a good next step, my advice is to stay where you’re at. The legacies are hiring fast, you’ll hear something soon and you won’t have to endure a quarter of the year on almost no income.

Yea I hear ya, and you shouldn’t have to be dealing these pay issues. That’s airline 101 sh!t: do not F with a pilot’s pay. Hopefully our management learns this lesson hard and fast. With that said, once you get on the line here, it’s a good place to work. If the bases work for you, that’s a plus. Pay is good, work rules great (a lot of soft money), and the crews are also really good. You can make money here. The chiefs leave us alone (unless someone screws up egregiously). It’s real easy to go to work, make good money, and not be bothered here. That’s been my experience. Training is also good, which you already know. Laid back. Like is said before, it’s just the middle management is inept. Figured I’d just give my personal experience real quick. If you already have a class at United/Delta, good luck man.
