they have probably won a name the plane contest and thought ‘mint contract’ would be a good idea.

Probably some ALPA volunteer came up with it on their spare time working for free. You guys are more than welcome to step up to the plate, volunteer and come up with a better slogan if it offends you that much.

Already have thank you very much! And just because someone is doing it out of the goodness of their heart and good intentioned does not mean they can’t royally screw things up and are above criticism.
Fact of the matter is this Negotiating Committee which came up with this LOA 17, are going to be the ones negotiating our CBA 2 and are the same ones that came up with this cheesy slogan. I am allowed to say I’m underwhelmed and not encouraged going forward regardless of whether or not they volunteer!

I haven’t heard anyone complain about it outside the APC/Bluepilots/PotatoFarm bubble.

That’s not my experience, but we just got those stickers a week or two ago quite frankly. We shall wait and see.

I mean I don’t think our first CBA would be any different if the slogan was something other than “Contract Above All.” CBA II will be decided on how unified the pilot group is, the job of our negotiators, and market conditions. Just my opinion.

I think it is kind of odd it’s called “mint contract.” That associates our goals with a company product. It sounds very company oriented. I would rather have something more independent.

They came up with the slogan “Mint Contract” because “We’ll get ‘em next time” was already taken.

It was a simple rallying cry, which yes could have been stood in by a different one as long as it was effective. It was one of the elements that led to that unified pilot group, culminating in 700 of us picketing in the cold… that is the goal and power of an effective slogan. I say that we would not have had that unity that in turn led to a strong CBA if we had a “cheesy” slogan like the one we had now. It’s just one ingredient but an important one. I guess we agree to disagree and that’s fine.
