that's a good way to put it. if the arbitrator doesn't help us, at least we didn't do it to ourselves.

Great thing to stand up to blewjet and it's most likely how I will be voting but does anyone have concern about how this could go very wrong for the profession as a whole? Arbitrator disagrees and the full NEA goes forward every airline in the US will follow suit with ignoring their scope in relation to this ruling.

Same could be said for any issue taken to arbitration by any pilot group… should they “settle” in fear of an arbitration ruling affecting the whole industry?….or should they stand up for what is right and see where the chips fall? Don’t succumb to emotion…. If an arbiter potentially unravels scope then at least we (and the rest of the industry) know where we all stand and can adjust our contract negotiating accordingly…… let’s put it to the test. I do believe we were sold on “iron clad” scope on the CBA…. So are they lying now or were they lying then ?

I believe this as well, but that is neither here nor there. We need to take a stand against a company that thinks it can whimsically violate our CBA. A no vote signifies that we will not accept blatant disregard of our contract, then allow the arbitrator cards fall where they will.

I’m really curious as to why we should vote ‘yes’ on LOA 17? We’ve got guys leaning ‘no’, some still unsure as to why we should vote ‘no’ at all, and what COULD happen if we do vote ‘no’. Why in the hell should we vote ‘yes’?! A 3% raise; $30M distributed unequally (that we’ll all have to pay dues on); UTS—SERIOUSLY?!!

Please enlighten us ‘no’ voters.

30% of our pilots will vote yes to anything put in front of them. This could be a 10% pay cut and if the union said it was reasonable they would vote yes.

This is a very "special" pilot group.

My own theory is that the union and the company both know this which is why we get these laughably bad offers, that either pass or almost do.

This is exactly why our 60-day expedited arbitration process has taken over 13 months. The arbitrator keeps sending us back to “work it out” because then he avoids making the decision.

1) He wants to rule for the company, since the NEA is clearly in everyone’s best financial interests, but on the other hand…

2) He can not rule in favor of the company, since that will set a precedent that will destroy scope everywhere.
