B6 guy here and I was talking to a Spirit Captain. He wants DTZ, the grid system, and the X/Y stuff... and he is willing to take JetBlue-10% pay to keep them.

He asked me if the JetBlue guys would vote for a 10% pay cut in the JCBA in order to get DTZ. Guess what my answer was.

A 10% paycut would put the rates below current Spirit rates. That makes 0 sense. That opinion is obviously not well formed.

Who said we have to take anything less than legacy +X% and keep the DTZ/grid rules? This is a generational opportunity re: pilot shortage, mgmt incentive for quick deal, that will never come around again. JB's union (all of our's ultimately) needs to wake tf up.

Spirit guy here:
Only an idiot would ASK for pay cuts or work rule concessions in these conditions....

Cursory notes, we at Spirit get:
-more guaranteed days off as a line holder
-better minimum monthly guarantee as a lineholder
-fewer involuntary LCR to SCR conversions per month
-better pay per SCR conversion (hours of pay Longevs. a flat rate)
(All per the contract comparison guide.)

I could add subjective items that B6 guys may or may not like (out of base swaps & adds)...

Jetblue has lots of better stuff than we do! Guess what, we should combine them both and stop this nonsense over the value of one particular item. THEY ARE ALL VALUABLE! Stop openly negotiating away ****! As an added bonus, I'd like to see some of our pre-C2018 work rules restored (namely trip integrity).

Not a good faith comment b/c it’s a 5% difference based on current pay tables. Factor in the 8% intl override on the plethora of SA day turns out of FLL and we credit more.

So yes… I’d much rather work under Spirit’s contract because out of FLL I can…

a) make more than JB rates
b) control my schedule

Initial lazy research on APC suggests Delta, American and United can most likely DTZ, Southwest definitely cannot. Not sure about Alaska. I would call it, industry common.

I have always said if we could get DTZ, plus everything else we want, great.

It's the grid, silly!

DTZ without the grid is worthless.

You're probably correct. *On paper* the ability to drop probably exists at those airlines. In actual practice I've heard it's very very difficult to drop anything at the legacies. They have no obligation to make the reserve grid green so they just make it all red so no one can drop. But that's just based on browsing the forums and talking with United peeps.

Also NK pilots get a raise on January 1. For me it's $20 (5th year captain).
