Off-brand question.. How would having an ATP and a 320 Type with being a CFII with no 121 experience look on an application?? Short story, currently running out of my GI-Bill Benefits with noting to spend them on, ATP Jets currently offers a program where I could burn my remaining benefit months on a 320 type. Or does that sound like madness to put myself through.. asking for a "Friend"..

Nothing to lose if you have the time and are sure you don't need or want the VA $ for something else, within it's shelf life. Make sure the training program is reputable, paying good $ for a pink slip would be counter-productive.
Personally I'd suggest you need some classroom time with an instructor, Bus isn't going to be at all easy to learn for a CFI trying to solo the 5,000 page manual and the airbus CBT's.

You don't find out until your first day. It's age dependent so I'd you are older you have a better chance of getting 320 (if it is offered in that class) but if you never want to learn another type rating I have some bad news about the aviation industry.....
If you want 320 for sure, go to Spirit. Your seniority number at JetBlue would be the same in a couple years either way.

That's not necessarily true (re: seniority number). I don't think that we are at the point where the lists will be merged DOH. Nothing to that effect has been announced.

Provo4departure, I did exactly what you described using my VA Education benefits at ATP Jets in Ft Worth. ATP Jets is very familiar with the process of how to use your VA benefits for the type rating. It was my first type rating as well. The rating was not easy but I really enjoyed it. In my opinion it really helped me and reduced my stress at training with JetBlue(I’m on the 320). With JetBlue’s current manning situation I would go to Spirit. You will end up with the same seniority number after the merger but you will be guaranteed the bus. Good luck you will do fine!
