No. After the "in processing." Two days of welcome to the company with the FAs and ground, bunch of HR stuff, then IT (getting iPads, getting them loaded with the CBT, Jepps, WSI, etc.) couple of classes universal to both fleets - TEMs, FOQA, ASAP, Evav drills including jumping down the slide, the PBE, how scheduling works, uniform fitting,CASS, etc. then the class was split BEFORE systems. Some going straight through, some got a Ten day, and the rest got a 20 day break. All on payroll, albeit training pay.
Bid for which one. Only constructive critique... Not being informed about potential break beforehand. Which would have affected decision making(e.g for some driving to training for 8 days vs 6 weeks, not buying 6 weeks worth of groceries, not packing six weeks worth of gear, etc.)

So you had to bid on who got what schedules (to include what breaks you got) between Indoc and systems? Did the breaks or the non breaks go senior? Did JB keep people in their hotels for the breaks or send them home?

Given bid sheets at BBQ the night before training-says "not mandatory" but I suggest you go! Breaks varied. Christmas was a motivator- going right through ended just before the 25th. Those with little kids tended to bid this. Rest are home for Thanksgiving. My motivator was three less weeks to commute to JFK in winter. Granted it's training pay but it's still a raise from first year regional reserve pay so a win-win in my book. Had to check out of hotel. Jetblue cities given a ticket, others had to jumpseat home. That was a little dicey because in some cases CASS didn't clear until the morning of departure.

Standard,
Do they allow you to jump seat home on your days off?

Sorry to be a nag. Is that "bidding" situation unique to your class due to size or holidays? Or is that par for the course for every (or at least most) new hire classes?

Yes but when training recommences in my case I've got 7 days off in 4 weeks, with max days in a row of two (one of those being Christmas). So really not practical. Some opted to go home for two days over Christmas and did so by buying a positive space ticket on their own dime.

Unfortunately can't answer that. I'm guessing class size as a function of capacity. Don't believe it to be the holidays. Training is being conducted in the sim on Christmas Eve up until 2330.

If your class is over 15 people (give or take) you'll likely have a break of some kind to bid on.
