jetBlue Hiring

For reserves, that 190% goes above guarantee. So a 2 day trip worth 10 hours is essentially worth 19 hours. That takes reserve pay from 75 to 94 hours.
Then if you want to sell back your sick time you can at 150%. Everyone at 5 years seniority or less gets 9 hours per month, and if you have more than 100 hours of sick time saved up, you can email payroll and they will pay that sick time back every single month.
Sooo, 75 hours of reserve, plus 10 hours of VDA (19 hours essentially) plus 9 hours of sick time sold back (essentially 13.5 hours) equals 107.5 hours of MONTHLY credit on Reserve.
Not a bad deal at all.
While JetBlue has issues that need to be addressed, this happens to be one of our golden nuggets.

He may be exaggerating but isn't even one pilot with this type of schedule unacceptable? I've seen people's FLICA schedule with 12 days in a row. So it's out there.

If you want to make some serious money, you can list yourself as "VDA" on your days off. VDA stands for Voluntary Day Assignment. If assigned a trip on your day off, it pays at 190% (which is premium 150% plus junior assign pay 40%).
For reserves, that 190% goes above guarantee. So a 2 day trip worth 10 hours is essentially worth 19 hours. That takes reserve pay from 75 to 94 hours.

I saw over 75 hours of pay once in 5 months on reserve. And that was a reassignment into a day off. Not voluntary.

Hello everyone, I'm the new guy on the block. I just joined the Forum and I was notified of passing Phase ll on Dec 11th. The email says that guys who interviewed in Sept. are getting called for a Jan. class. My interview was on Oct. 16th and the email says to expect a class in Jan, Feb, Mar. Has anybody who passed phase ll in Dec got a class yet? My other question is: How is equipment and base assigned, is it age, date of interview, ID num, or else? I'm hoping to get Airbus in BOS or JFK, what's the likelihood of that? Thank you very much for the help, I can't wait to start. I have waited for JetBlue for many years, and it's finally happening. I can't still believe it!

Equipment and base is based on class seniority which is determined by age. Oldest being the most senior and getting first choice. Our junior base is usually BOS 190 but i think classes have been pretty Airbus heavy as of late since the 190 fleet has stopped growing. Airbus junior bases are BOS and JFK.

I see a handful of guys getting 7-9 days of flying in a row, but they still have 15 days off in the month. I'm looking at every base on our crew planning website.

So you're saying when we're short staffed (VDA's being called) and you have 100 plus hours of PTO (no paid sick calls for your first year on property, which is unrealistic) then reserve pays over 100 hours! So it's not that bad! That's really an exaggeration as you accused a previous poster.

Some Captains that play this game make $225-250,000 on reserve. When a bad weather system is approaching any of our big hubs, you can GUARANTEE that all reserves will be flown and anyone on VDA is going to get a call. So watch the weather and if a storm forecast looks solid, trade your reserve days to be off then, and then place yourself on VDA.
Let's not forget about EPS pay also. That's 5 hours at 190% above guarantee if your pairing is modified and extended outside of the footprint by at least 1 minute. Yes, 1 minute outside your footprint and you've made a gob of money.
VDA, EPS, REL, LCR and PTO sell back is a gravy train for those on reserve who live in base.
