I've heard the $6k retention bonus is gone for anyone hired in 2015 and beyond.

^^^^^ this right here. This is not a regional by any stretch nor is it a stepping stone, but with the "it's better than my regional" mentality it never will be the best it can be. It's supposed to be better than a regional hence the word "destination airline".

So without going through this huge thread, realistic first year pay including reserve and maybe a line if lucky is around 35k?

From March 2014 to the end of the year I made just under 32,000. On rsv the whole time.

This will be difficult for new hires. The dash stipend amounts to no more than spending money. Living at the lodge will definitely not be a good time and first year pay is even tougher. I'm thinking it's not 2009... There are better choices than Ole Blue. Even if you live in Metro NY.

Thanks for the info Beechnut. Man that's disappointing. Changes my perspective.

I chose to commute so it's my responsibility but tack on $250 a month for a crash pad, and what seems like $40 per trip in transport costs.
$10 rides between LGA and JFK on the airporter (usually one coming and one going), and lately, $10 sedans when it's 15 degrees at 4am and there's 2 inches of snow/slush on the ground between the crash pad and air train stop. Granted, "tax deduction." But the only time you need a tax deduction is when you're making a profit, not when you're in the red. I can't tell my mortgage company to take the payment from my "tax deduction." Or feed the family, "tax deductions." Or take the dog to the vet using a "tax deduction."

I think I figured 1st year pay was about 45K....pre-tax, pre-medical, pre-401K, etc.... That was factoring in 12 months of line pay. So I guess about 10 months of line pay, 2 months of training pay, and the associated deductions=32K is the take home?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news here but the average first year pay for United, American, Delta, Alaska, and Hawaiian is $53/hour.

I think $55/hour would be the best case for first year. We had pretty high first year pay comparatively until recent CBA's at the legacies increased theirs.
