My initial bid does have crummy trips but I'm usually able to bid out of red eyes and the lousy island and NYC layovers. So I'm happy with the schedule I end up flying (I've only done 3 red eyes since Jan, all by choice). Living in base is huge ... obviously.

I bet it'll be another 3+ years before I could sniff "midrange seniority" BOS320 tho. That would happen a lot sooner on the 190 or in JFK I think.

I would think that you'd have a descent shot at a BOS320 out of training. If not, you could likely bid over during the next system bid, and find yourself in Boston a few months later.

320 Reserve in Boston is 12 months at the minimum, and longer in most cases. Reserve periods are 3-6 day blocks, 10 hour RAPs, 2 hour callout, usually 18 days on a month. 10 hr Long Call is rare - it is subject to reserve availability, which has been especially low of late, and it only happens in the middle of the week when it does.

Trips vary widely between 1 day turns and 2-5 day trips. Day turns bid senior but a few always end up in open time.

Hope this helps

Best of luck
Which Island turns? Some of them are good. Like Aruba.

I don't get what the big deal is Aruba? Most of the AUA trips are non-commutable anyway...

Because the scheduling committee guys who build the trips in BOS are locals.

I'm not sure about the chairman, but the "Moose" sure isn't local. They also don't build the pairings...

When I was on the 190 they were local. Don't know about 320.

I think people are confusing the company's scheduling committee with ALPA's. As far as I know ALPA currently has no say in how our pairings are built.

Kind of like the hotel committees. There's a company one and an ALPA one. The company one is the "hotel team".

Indeed I am. I spoke with the previous schedule committee guys in the crew room in great length several years back. They were local, and did hav quite a bit of influence on how pairings were built. But the was before ALPA.
