You have this opinion because you are a local. Half the airline is commuters. Commuters don't have access to VDA/RSA like you locals, generally, so the only way they can add pay is to pick up straight open time. Of course you guys don't like that because if the open time gets picked up, they won't have to pay premium at the last minute to the locals.
You want the commuters to give up their only (generally) lever to add pay, so that you locals can jack your own checks to the moon. Under the current system, there is no way for both groups to win.

100% agree with this. I’m local, but our entire open time system needs a complete overhaul. I hate the way this company runs on VDA/RSA. And yes, picking up anything during a labor dispute will be infuriating. Yet undoubtedly, pilots will do it.

No I don’t Blue. This was response to the post before mine in regards to pilots on VDA during a labor dispute. During non labor dispute times I have no issues with local or commuting pilots picking up trips at straight pay. During our last labor dispute the same pilots who would pick up straight pay trips would turn around and ridicule pilots for being on VDA. We either all stand together or we don’t during a labor dispute.

Just be cognizant of the fact that a labor dispute is looming, likely to occur in the very short term. Legal disclaimer: I’m not advocating one way or another about picking up VDAs during a labor dispute, just wanted to make sure you were aware that it’s likely coming, and soon.

You know, statements like this, doesn't help the situation. It is disrespectful to talk like this towards your own group and you would never say this to their face. I can see others saying "F u and this contract/LOA then, I don't give a Sht what you think" and completely disregard any good insight you might have given to sway a decision one way or the other. You and others who completely disrespect the pilot group like this, helps to destroy any unity we could have built.
You're upset that someone choose to vote opposite to your liking? Fine, that's democracy, but keep it respectful. My ass was pis$ed LOA 17 passed. Here I am not trying to be an As$ to someone who voted FOR it, or sit on a forum calling my fellow pilots weak after all the dust settled.
Maybe it's aging that gives impatience (thought that would be opposite), but I hope I don't turn out like this.
