Bottom line is we could have a contract yesterday but it would suck. The negotiators are working on an expedited time line and are going as fast as they can. Our NC has stated that they really can't push any faster. The company has agreed to all our requests for extra days, shows up prepared and negotiations are progressing. We are neck deep negotiating the major sections of the contract and every word counts. If/when things slow to an unacceptable pace there are plans in place to deal with it. Now isn't the time.
We may have to go to mediation, you really don't want to. If you think things are slow now, mediation will be exponentially slower. We may have to get released for self help... time will tell. But right now things are moving forward.
I know it's tough but we have to wait. In the mean time, please wear your lanyards and fly safe.

Todd sounds like he gets his info from the same place I do. I have the ear of the NC and the MEC at least twice a month.

No no no you have no clue what you are talking about.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Totally agree with you, that's what they said in the meeting but as we all know they are lying to us because......oh wait there is no reason to.
Some guys just want to push their ideas no matter what the people who know what's going on tell them.
Also the lack of knowledge about mediation is amazing. If you think this pace is slow just wait. They have said it over and over again TA as much as you can before going into mediation, I don't know why people don't get that.

But lets be realistic- B6 has NO reason to complete this in the near future- What about that doesnt ring true to Payne/RVR and Cap Cool? Give me reasons why we should be optimistic about the company's desire to improve things here.
The MEC has done what it can- the company will not until it has no choice. Thoughts?

Mediation is the last thing I want- Im conveying what Ive heard from my p2p guy. He feels that mediation is inevitable-along with picketing etc. Do not take my lack of faith in the company as a rush to a sub-par contract- I have never said that.
But lets be realistic- B6 has NO reason to complete this in the near future- What about that doesnt ring true to Payne/RVR and Cap Cool? Give me reasons why we should be optimistic about the company's desire to improve things here.

He feels or is that what he was told by the MEC and NC. There is a difference.

I don't think he doubts your P2P guy told you exactly what you said he did. But as a fellow P2P member myself, I can tell you that's not the message the NC is intending to convey at this time.
Each of us brings our own biases into those meetings and we can take out of them what we want. Just like the FLL LEC message and how different it is compared with what the NC has been saying for the last month or so.

Talk to the guys that are sitting at the table negotiating for us. Obviously it's possible that we end up in mediation, picketing, taking out billboards in Times Square, etc., and they want to be sure that everyone is on the same page when that time comes, but according to the negotiators, we're not there yet. They're making good progress on substantive portions of the TA. A lot of items are still open, but those items are all inter-related. I'm not claiming any special knowledge, I just think your pessimism may be premature.
