I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with this as a blanket statement.

Any pairing construction rules regarding length or commutability need to be base specific.

jfk sure. Build a ton of commutable 4 days.

mco, fll are not commuter bases for the most part and we don’t want a ton of 4 days.

I don't necessarily disagree with being base specific, but locals can fly trips that start mid day and end mid day, commuters can't really fly trips that start early and end late. Not realistically. There can and should always be 1-2 day trips, so locals won't "have" to fly multiday trips. But the multiday trips they build should be more or less commutable.

I get it, it's hard to get locals to care about commuters, but we shouldn't F half the airline. Maybe there's a way to have an annual survey by base (union survey) and have requirements to moderately replicate the bases desires with respect to commutability and trip length.

I will also add that in (at least) one base/fleet for Oct, they built a prolific number of 2-day trips that start so early, and end so late, they can't even be grouped together on the next day. They are all over the trade board and the only thing left in open time. Locals don't want them because they start so early, and end at 10-11pm, all for an extra 1 hour of pay over the ADG. They are intolerable for commuters because they can't be grouped together and are 4 days away from home, each, and only pay 11 hours.

Trips like that are bad for everyone.

You’re just used to it as am I. We should bid reserve periods the month prior in the bid.

I do agree on the monthly bidding for RSV slots. I’m pretty sure that’s how NK does it too. The DRO is a nightmare for CS to do correctly.

Is there some sort of parking stipend for commuters? Or NYC transit reimbursement?
