I know who the enemy is. And ALPA is a) necessary 2) helping get what we need and 3) imo doing a good job. But their presence in and of itself doesn't make any work rule, pay, benefit, etc. better. Especially when we still have a ton of pilots who don't even wear their lanyard. The union is only as good as its members. And for hyperboy to continue to spew this nonsense that things are getting better is asinine. Want proof? He can't make one claim or respond to anyone questioning how anything has or is getting better. He hasn't yet and I'm legitimately interested what has improved lately. When a good TA comes to my inbox, then he can say things are getting better. When the company does something to improve our pay, QOL, benefits, and time off, he can make that claim. Until then, it is nothing but unilateral gives from the pilot group with a union that can't do a whole lot to fight it since we don't have a contract.

My entire profit sharing check today was directed to my strike fund. ~Two months of walking ability right there. Going to keep putting more money away as I can to make it easier to drop trips and make arrangements to participate in picketing events as well.

Doubt management would ever let it get to that point and if they did it wouldn't be long lived. Can't hurt though, having savings for anything is a good idea.

Call it a small insurance policy that will guarantee you have a market-rate CBA with the possibility of also having a nice slush fund when the ink is dry on it.
OR...
BlewJet management underestimates our resolve and doesn't hammer out a market-rate CBA at first blood. That strike fund will help bridge the gap during unemployment when the airline closes for good.
The unified JB pilots will prevail in the end, one way or another. Anyone who doesn't have a strike fund is undermining our negotiating position.

I know it's tough, but I did it on regional FO pay. 6 mos of expenses is a great start. I'm talking about:
1)rent/mortgage
2)electricity/gas/phone/internet
3)food
4)kids expenses (they don't need to worry/suffer/stress about this)
It's amazing how quickly you can save if you redirect your 401k and Starbucks money towards this goal.
Might I suggest setting up another direct deposit with your paycheck on BCCS. label it "strike fund"
