Can someone explain why, when on SCR the most senior pilot gets the earliest call out in the buckets? Did we bargain for that? You get punished for being senior on short call, by getting the earliest call out, and getting called first.

Its from the old PEA days. It protects the senior pilot from red eye trips.

That’s what we get when our union literally bargained for our contract under the specific premise of “Well we didn’t think they would do that.”

Last 3 weeks of LCR I’ve been called 20 minutes into my first day and I’m a middle of the pack bidder. Parties over back to bidding a line.

Thanks, always wondered why that was like that.

I specifically asked a detailed question about that at the roadshow. the union negotiator for scheduling told me they had to do it one way or the other, and they chose that way randomly. I told him they should have chosen the other way, as it would make senior reserves (which I was at the time) unhappy. he said it was too late to change it, and someone would be unhappy with it either way. I said we should get to vote on it, and he said no way.

Wait, so you asked and the union said no? Geez what a mind*******. The company taught them well.

EWR will become a pilot crew base, most likely co-base of JFK. If MIA grows anymore then that is close enough to throw co-base status on it too. Ditto for the satellite airports of LAX, especially BUR and SNA once more A220s are around.
Not unless they bargain for it.... we do have a contract lest you forget.

Not sure why we tried to reinvent the wheel with our contract but they swung for the fences and hit a dribbler back to the pitcher.
I get at least two PRLs every month on LCR. I get released by 0800 on my last day. I don’t usually try to PTO, so I can’t speak to that, but obviously your B/E/S has a lot to do with that. I have been able to swap days in the 1st 48 hour window the past two years with maybe one or two denials that were not user error ( like orphan days ). We don’t Have a “hard 2 hour call out”, it is 2:30. If it were a “reasonable” allowance, all the bang-out monkeys would push it to the limit and we’d have a lot more delayed flights than we already do.

Personally I’m quite enjoying our RSV system, especially this past year. The only time CS has put something in JETCRW in over a year it’s been PRL. Haven’t gotten a single call from them.
