To prospective applicants: this is the type of thinking that is the reason we don't have a competitive CBA at JetBlue. Apply elsewhere, where your fellow pilots will respect their profession.
This!! I've been here 10 years and the final straw for me was the MEC news this week concerning negotiations. I've started updating my logbook and applying to the big 3. I'm not getting any younger waiting on this place.

This is the message I was trying to convey to prospectives in one of my earlier posts: if 10-year captains are bailing, it's a sign that this place is seriously messed up.

The thread started by pointing out our shortcomings and warning pilots to steer clear, then it quickly devolved into "oh, we are way behind everyone else but it isn't that bad because I made more than I did at my regional and I don't mind playing janitor every day."

Have some f*%&ing SELF-RESPECT and stop rationalizing your decision to come here! Either bail for an airline that compensates you properly and treats you like the professional you are (blue-gloved cabin cleaners moonlighting as pilots excluded), channel your energy here to working toward an industry leading CBA, or resign and become an aircraft cabin cleaner if you think that is your calling in life.

FYI...we have a lot of ex Jetblue guys at FedEx.

We don't clean airplanes. Then again--we don't have redeye override either...and you'll be doing a lot of that initially.

Lol....I've dedicated about .000002 nanoseconds to thinking about plane cleaning and even less to doing it. But I guess I shouldn't minimize your feelings and need to vent on a forum.

Looks like the NC is getting down to brass tacks.... This is where it counts, the contract. That's where issues will be addressed...I'm waiting till then to judge the long term situation.

If there is an informational picket, I bet half the people complaining in this forum won't show up. How about we work on some unity as a pilot group, company knows there is hardly any unity as a pilot group besides wearing lanyards. Even The union knows the unity is NO WHERE near where it should be. And why does everyone think that this contract is so inevitable at this point? Does your wife tell you it's ok to buy a Bugatti the first time you ask? No, so why does everyone think that the company is going to give us a plus one on DAL contract right of the bat? If there's a picket, I sure hope everyone shows up, because if not, RH will be sitting in his jacuzzi eating popcorn watching the show.

Instead of wasting your time not recommending this place, spend sometime looking at ways you can make it better. No offense to you, but doesn't seem like you're going to be real happy anywhere you go. Fall in the trap of being miserable and you're going to find misery every where you go. Say thanks to your union guys for taking time out of their life to try to make your job better... might not be at this incredible instant rate that you would like, but it might help your additude towards your job. Or you if you really want, hit up DAL, you can be a rsv captain in LGA and love life.

I hope the situation at JB gets better soon. You guys WILL get a better contract. Just so there is no confusion:
Delta Air Lines mainline employees pay a $50 admin fee per year for unlimited pass travel for ALL covered riders. In my house that's wife (employee) me (spouse) both kids, both of wife's parents. All covered under the one $50 total fee. Unlimited S3 travel for all. Additionally, Everyone gets 6 S2 travel day (24 hour) passes to use each year. Additional S2 days are awarded for various reasons.
The result is 2 or 3 trips to Europe every year, and never crossed the ocean in the cattle class. For $50.

We pay $75 per leg to go transcon if we want to ride in our premium cabin. They would rather leave it empty than let any employee ride in that seat. I guess it's the same for deadheads too.

Yeah... complete BS! There needs to be something in the contract about DHDs in Mint if seat is available and no middle seats on DHDs or extra pay! I think United has that in their contract.

I generally agree with the original poster. Those that continually defend JetBlue, I just don't get it. Even if you are reasonably happy here, you KNOW it needs to get much better. Difficulty attracting and retaining pilots at JetBlue is one of our biggest levers we can pull to help us get a CBA sooner!!!

Why, why! Why would you fight that????

Come on! We are sooo far behind. Don't hide that or minimize that fact.

Wow. Sorry I brought up cleaning. Forget about that. That is 1% of the problem but the thread generates 90% of the traffic from that topic. Never mind payrates 40% less than Delta.

The MAIN focus. We have a very long way to go. I fully support our NC, and fully believe they have done/will do a great job. Eventually.

Yes we should focus on making this place better.

My message is to the prospective NEW HIRE . I HAVE BEEN DISAPOINTED with jetblue and managements attitude and disrespect of our contribution. It WILL get better here but it might take years......YEARS I and some of you don't really have.
So perhaps focus your energy somewhere else. It takes a tremendous effort to interview, phase 2, train, IOE, etc only to discover you have to do it over again somewhere else. We lose most of our pilots from the <2 year crowd. That is a huge red flag.

That's the message. Don't worry about the cleaning.....sheesh. Stay on topic.

My opinion
