All speculation and horse **** theories set aside, It'd be interesting to see people’s actual standing bid preferences as opposed to just what gets awarded by the company..

You and I both know it doesn't work that way here. Closest is a 767 FO who never was a CA, or flew international, getting the upgrade. CE, SS, and D are going to make sure they are ready on the 777 before letting them loose regardless.

Years ago we (ABX) had a guy hold a Captian proffer on the DC8 with 1800 total time...0 PIC turbine anything! Sailed through training without any extra sims or extra OE. Did fine.

I think that would be the exception, not the norm. Good for him, but would like to hear stories from his crew.

Never a CA, or never a CA at K4?

DAL recently had some 0 TPIC upgrades on the MD88. In LGA (when the MD88 was still there).

Flying a mad dog domestically is a completely different league than a triple all over the world.

IDK. I've flown into airports throughout the world. Africa, Middle East, Asia, Central America. LGA and ORD ranked up there. Heck, my brother who is a senior widebody FO at a major carrier refuses to upgrade even though he has been there for 30 years. He says the domestic narrowbody flying he would have to do is too much like work, especially if he was stuck in a Jurassic jet such as the MD88.
Of course, I didn't need to worry about someone shooting me down if I squawked the wrong code or strayed off the flight path in NYC or ORD.

Please don't take the above to mean that I think international flying is easy, I have nothing to learn, or that it's a good idea to have new hires go directly into a 777 flying into the places Kalitta goes in/out of. It can be a challenge; I am a "student pilot" always and have much to learn; and think all the new hires need a year or two of learning the operation before being turned lose around the world. But that's just my uninformed and humble opinion.
