Kalitta Air (K4) Information

I have yet to find a single person that said they want the 777. You won't see the airframe until Jun/Jul and then when it arrives there are proving runs etc. It will make for a nice vacation in more ways than one (right now only sim time available is in Singapore, so it's rumored).
Some of the 2 year "vet's" on the 767 are rumored to want to head over to the 744. Would PMSL if the 777 went new hire off the street CA

This is an uncharacteristically non confrontational post. Info only from the center of the universe...
Training and OE backlog is pretty deep. So, the application window is closed for the moment. Christmas rush will eat into the OE backlog. And, other than ground school and CBTs, there is no schoolhouse activity in December.
Staffing is a endlessly floating target. Best guess is after the first of the year we will be back on full speed ahead with classes every 3 weeks or so. If (And I do mean "if") all of the airframes in play turn up on property, we will need around 250 ish additional pilots over the next 24 months.
So, we will most likely be back in app/interview mode early next year.
My $0.02, it is a great job. Nothing is perfect. But, I think our flying is varied enough to keep your days interesting and your layovers fun. Worth putting in an application and worth giving us a serious look as a career.
Not too many airlines where you get the opportunity to be flying your regional jet from the hub to Little Rock in January and flying a 747 to Hong Kong in March.

FACTS... anyone who has upgraded on the 74 or the 76 or made a lateral move to the 76 as CA and doesnt have 24 months since OE CA check off.. is ineligible to bid per the CBA. The CPs office confirmed to me they are not lifting the and "locks"... they would have had to do so IN the vacancy announcement. That cuts out ALOT of guys.. ALOT. I suspect there will be at least a handful of guys with less than three years on property who will be awarded 777 CA. AND if I am wrong (possible)... my bid seniority on the 74 takes a huge jump...
It could go very senior... but it will be a min guarantee gig for the forceable future... and I cant see senior guys giving up the lucrative paydays we are all experiencing right now.
That said.. sound advice.. IF you want the 777 left seat bid it.. even if you are ineligible.... let them make that decision.
p.s. I agree with the above.. I have talked to no body..... who has openly said they want to go to the 777.... we shall see..

I wonder if Boeing will be giving the training? Also heard that going from a 400 to the 777 can be done with a 10 hour short course. This is what the initial cadre is doing.
