Extremely conservative pilot group on average.
Talks about pro-Trump and anti liberal agendas is a given. Its assumed you agree.
People seem proud to be relatively free of the PC campaigns so prevalent at other airlines. This shows in some of the comments I’ve heard from other pilots.

My 0.02
I was thankful to be there and think K4 offers a fantastic experience but here is the negative I observed on the 747:
Brutal duty days
seniority is almost irrelevant as far as
scheduling goes.
Dirty old airplanes with a mechanic who lives on the airplane. Understandably, some of these guys are unshowered and near mental breakdown.
Because of the precarious position above many mechanics feel that the airplane is theirs and “some” Captains will submit to that sort of attitude and walk on eggshells around these high strung individuals.
Not fresh sleeping bags for bunk “linens”
Some planes have dirty old seats with black grease stains from oily hair on the headrest.
Alot of “interesting” individuals who wouldn’t fare well in an HR screening.
Extremely conservative pilot group on average.

I have run into some real ego-trips during training. I have also run into some fantastic instructors. Its a good old boy system but they are trying to weed out the worst offenders.
Again, I could list many positives but this thread is about the negatives and a fair warning to those interested.

Just starting from the top. Brutal duty days? Really? Fatigue call never enter the equation? Dirty old airplanes blah blah mechanics. Really? Best maintained aircraft I have ever flown and most knowledgeable mechanics I have ever worked with and I worked at a lot of airlines. Seniority doesn’t count? Did they tell you about how scheduling works when the hired you? I guess some people can always find the bad in anything.

If you can't find anything to talk about other than politics during an eight hour flight, you must live an extremely miserable existence. Spent several years flying long haul in Europe. Great conversation was the norm, and political talk was virtually non-existent. Seriously, there is far more to life that sitting around getting angry about political rhetoric.

J’s points are all valid. The planes arent getting the down time they have had in the past, so they aren’t getting the love they need. The pilots and FMEs are all tired, so there have been some ****ing matches, and some of our pilots prefer the bull in a China shop approach to diplomacy.
That being said, it’s still a cargo airline, and as Connie always said “clean airplanes aren’t out making me any money.” Bring your own pillow case, and if you’re a germophobe bring your own sheets. If you’re hoping to be treated like a first class passenger, you’re in the wrong place. It’s still a ridiculously easy job for the amount we get paid, and with unlimited overtime there are plenty of guys with W2s up in the stratosphere for doing very little.
