So "rig" is to cargo what min day is to 121, it seems?
HighFight;
Duty rig; trip rig; VOD, whatever you want to call it, is important because WE come to work to make money. We do not come to work to sit in hotels and pick our noses, ok, ad nauseum and do nothing but wash our clothes and eat the same boring breakfast day in and day out in the same run down Holiday Inn for 16 days. If we then fly a ten hour trip, we expect to be paid for it. For the fifteen days that we sat, we want CREDIT for sitting those days. So, sitting for, say, 4.8 hours a day,X15, then get 10 hours of flight pay = 72 + 10.....= 82 hours of pay, versus a flat 64 hours. Thats some ChaChing! Any other questions?

Uhhh, "cargo" is 121... At least as far as a heavy jet operator like K4 (and others) are concerned.
But, yes a "rig" guarantees a minimum pay per day and can be calculated a number of different ways (Atlas uses a goofy formula of paying one hour of pay for every 4.95 hours away from base which equals approximately 4.85 hours for a full 24 hour day - it is less for the first and last days of a trip). Ideally, rig or min credit, or whatever your CBA calls it is compared on a daily basis to actual hours flown and min guarantee and the pilot is then paid the greater of those numbers.
And K4 folks, congrats! I hope this TA meets and exceeds your personal minimum requirements! Of course, we have no idea of the details, but the outline sounds pretty good!

Sorry, of course cargo is 121. I was thinking pax vs. boxes. I am used to hearing min day, not rig. But thanks for all the explanations and making it clearer.
And I agree. This TA bodes well for the good folks at K4. Congrats to them!

I have to ask myself what kind of an individual would post such an obnoxious comment. To all the Atlas guys that did support us on the picket line, thank you and please understand this individual is not indicative of the caliber of guys at Kalitta. Obviously there are exceptions to the quality of our crewmembers, and this guy needs to learn some manners.
When we see our contract we will have an opportunity to evaluate it predicated upon its merits, and if it is not up to caliber I will vote against it. On the other hand if it works for the guys at Kalitta and our situation I will support it, so time will tell.

Many congratulations to all the Kalitta crews. You've done yeoman's work, and endured a huge degree of adversity. Your Atlas, ABX, and Southern brothers and sisters were pumped to support you, had this gone another way. Between the Allegiant deal and this, the tide is turning at 1224. Thanks for all of your sacrifice.
