Pilot Shortage. Same story for fifty years. Never happens. The bottom line is if you are absolutely passionate about flying then by all means go into flying. If you are looking to support yourself and family with a good job and be treated with respect.....steer well clear of aviation.

I swear an article comes out every four years or so based around Riddle about a pilot shortage....... sounds like a recruitment ploy

My feeling exactly. Today's artilce was perfectly timed so that some guys get enthused about flying and will be ready for an airline in a year or two so management will still have pilots to pay minimum wage.

I was actually sitting in a UND class when this article was brought up. Many students spoke up saying they were excited for the pilot shortage in a few years. I don't drink the koolaid, thankfully

I love how all these articles talk about a pilot shortage. There isn't going to be a pilot shortage-EVER.

You will have a successful pilot career. Being realistic will help in the ups and downs with the career. Too bad your classmates are in for a hard reality call when they hit the line.

There have been a number of pilot shortages already, some of them very severe.

And the major airlines already have paid people to go to flight school. You just aren't old enough to remember and/or haven't studied Aviation History enough to know. UAL went to high schools and HIRED kids who had completed their PPL and had a HS Diploma.
