It should go without saying that if you aren't current then this isn't an option, I have been chasing this job for almost 2 years and wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to finish up. The examiner gave me the option only after proving my relevant currency. And getting the tops report so we knew we could get on top for the air work.

Don't blame you on that one.

Anyone who interviewed last month get a call back yet? I interviewed Jan 30th and still waiting. I've heard it could take anywhere from a few days to a few months to hear back. Just curious if anything has been happening since the whole hiring freeze scare....

It was nearly 3 months for me between interviewing and getting a tentative offer. This process takes forever!! I applied in March of 2015 & jumped through all the hoops over the last 2 years &
Just finished my checkride a few weeks ago. Still waiting for my firm offer.

I can see why they have trouble getting inspectors, I have passed on some much more lucrative jobs while waiting. During the background check they called my current employer who is now giving me an ultimatum so if I don't get a firm offer soon I'm adding a new type and signing another contract with my current employer.

I have wanted this job in the worst way for a long time but 2 years is just too long.

I see on here theres a guy that took 5 years to get in!!
That's insane!

Yeah that's the government I suppose! On a different note, is there anyone on here who didn't get a tentative offer then reapplied, reinterviewed, and THEN got a tentative offer? Just interested all on aspects.

A friend of mine interviewed for maintenance, didn't get selected, then applied for Ops and ended up getting the job.
No idea if it can happen with the same position. I have heard that if you refuse an offer for any reason, or if you drop out of the process you won't be considered again.

What kind of vibe did you get during/after your interview? Mine was very positive, after the panel interview screens were shut off I talked openly with the 2 guys actually in the room for a good 15 minutes about the position, duties, and experiences they have had working as an ASI's & left feeling like I got the job......then didn't hear a word for 3 months 🙄

On that note don't rely on USA jobs for updates, the posting I applied for still only says referred and I have been all the way through the process just waiting for my firm offer & start date.

Yeah I've noticed USAjobs is not very reliable my application still says "received" even though HR called me and said I was referred for GS-11 position. The interview went okay was kinda hard to gauge, got asked the 10 questions and used about 30-40min of the hour to answer them, chatted for a few afterwards, shook hands and that was that. So who knows just gonna wait and see, certainly not quitting my day job anytime soon.

Much of the time between TOL and FOL relies on security. No FOL can go out until you pass the preliminary public trust stuff. They are usually very backed up and depending on how you answer questions, it can take longer.

Once we make a selection, we send in the name to the servicing HR office, then it makes its way through them, then security, then back to them.

No (good) manager will ever tell you if you were selected or referred. That must come from HR due to many legalities.

Be patient. Most of these jobs are terrific and worth the wait. Some people may tell you that some offices do suck. I haven't found one of those in my 11 years.

Good luck.
