[QUOTE=I miss my dog;2308608]Just did the GA ride in AFW. Pretty much as advertised. It was scheduled almost 2 months out so they must be pretty backed-up. They booked/paid for airfare and I paid hotel, rental car, and gas, to turn in for reimbursement. Just waiting for FOL now. There are a lot of openings as I got offers for three locations at once and then a couple of weeks after I had accepted one of them I got a call from someone else for a fourth location because they didn't realize I had already accepted. It has been a long, long process but I think the end is finally in sight! Good luck to all.

Nice! How'd the ride go?, Also how did your initial interview go before you got the call for locations? Did you use the whole hour and get any feedback from them? I'm still waiting in limbo which I expect will be for months to come...

A couple of thoughts for those still waiting- Don't put too much stock in USAjobs status - mine still says received and I have an FOL and report date. A friends' status went to Not Hired and he got the call for an interview not long after that.

There are a lot of openings but not necessarily at the location you may want. I had to compromise there.

Getting a little prep before the GA ride in AFW is helpful if you haven't done that type of flying in awhile. Why get to that final point and risk blowing it over a couple of hundred dollars? I didn't find anyone locally in Dallas familiar with the process to prep me. ATP said they only fly with program students now and American Flyers wasn't helpful at all. I did get an hour in my local area which helped a little.

I tried calling some of the Front Line Managers beforehand and although they were all nice, most were confused with why I was calling. None of them realized that listing is now nationwide and kept asking if I applied to their location listing or said they weren't hiring right now but told me to watch for listings for their locations, which of course no longer exist.

Thanks for all the good info on here. It definitely helped with the long and confusing process.

It is confusing, as well, for those of us on the inside. What office are you headed to?

Any info on the sim eval for ASI AC? Location, what aircraft type, etc.? Have a friend going that route soon and not much current on this thread about it. Looks like it used to be DAL in a 737 but may have changed. Thanks

The ACOP Sim Eval is now done in OKC at the FAA Academy. B-737-800NG sim.

Just heard that we are "short" over 70 GAOP ASI's nation-wide. Air Carrier Ops is a very small niche compared to GA Ops. If you qualify for both specialties, recommend applying for both to get your foot in the door. One can easily transfer between GA and Air Carrier once "in". Only about 20 are qualified and "in the pool" right now. Never been a better time to get hired!

Thanks for the info - I'll pass it on to him. I'm excited to get started on the GA side in a few weeks!

I just interviewed for the AC side and it was exactly as described here. I found it helpful that I reviewed my KSA's and AC-120-92B. It was very relaxed and you have one hour to answer ten questions. I think things went quite well and everyone was extremely friendly.
