This is what I am interested in....back in the day, pre-August 2019 or so, the AMEX premium card got you the Priority Pass, and you could eat for free ($27 value and could bring 2 guests). Now AMEX only allows lounge and no restaurant access. The Chase Sapphire Reserve ($550/yr) lets you eat, but in the fine print it says no Travel Industry Employees traveling on reduced-fare tickets can use it. Of course, that must mean non-rev or deadheading pilots. Curious if any of you have had problems with that and what was the work-around? I JUST got my Chase card, all excited to use the Priority Pass again since returning to flying after almost a year off and just read the fine print about my scheme maybe not working. Think about it...$550/yr reduced by an easy $300 travel expenses refund (which includes groceries and gas until June), which drops the cost of the card to $250/yr. A $27 food voucher in restaurant lounges means break-even occurs after 9 meals. That would happen in a month or two, easily. Helluva deal. In theory. Anyone experience care to comment?

Some restaurants do ask, but there’s no way for them to tell if you’re on a reduced fare ticket. They seem to only be interested that you spend the max amount allocated by the card. I’ve been rung up for $20 before and had the cashier tell me to grab some chips and bottled water to get it up to $28.

Marriott
Is anybody getting night credits with Bonvoy? I've flown with several people that tell me to charge things to my room and that I should get stay credit. I've tried this several times but I get no credit just a few points for my purchases.

Bonvoy stopped that loophole a while back.

I don't know about Marriott but most Hilton we stay at gives us stay credit to maintain our status. It doesn't really do anything good, since my Amex Platinum already gives me Gold status at the Hilton and Marriott. Between the free or discounted breakfast at some Hilton / Double Tree (from the Gold status) Priority Pass, and Amex Centurion lounge in LAS is the only reason I can justify the annual fees.

Most of the Hilton properties don't care if we are crew member. I just tell them that I'm gold status, and I'll get the discounted or free hot breakfast. Of course this is all pre covid, so who knows when hot buffet breakfast is coming back. Only a couple of times, I've been able to access the Marriott lounge with the gold status.
