I feel like I’m wasting a very lucrative career staying here after seeing some of these other posts. I keep telling myself the next contract will be industry standard.
Wow you're only on reserve 6.7 days a month on average, that's impressive. Surely you aren't misleading anyone by leaving off unused reserve days?

Also, you picked up an additional 39k of pay over min guarantee and never worked a weekend?

I don't understand the "unused on reserve is not a work day" theory.

A bit misleading. 80 days of flying. Too many reserve days not called in to count. I take 200% pick ups any day of the week if I’m up for it. Bid for weekends off 10 months out of the year but bid to fly weekends when it suited me if I wanted blocks of time off. I worked an average of one full weekend per month.

Is it an abnormality to have so many unused reserve days? Living in base sounds like a pretty nice deal.

The airline is short staffed currently and I am getting used more often these days. There was a time where I only got used a couple times per month on average. I live in base only because I relocate to wherever base is.

I was routinely the only passenger on the Delta flights to SYD. That rate doesn’t take any consideration to other pay parameters that add up fast.

Hello, fellow FedEx guy here. I'm trying to wrap my head around this also....I knew some of our guys were putting up big numbers, but my assumption was that they were working for it! You said you extended a lot but also averaged only 10 days or so a month? I know folks were extending frequently (especially during early COVID), but the price for that was a long blue line on the calendar.

A lot of the puzzling W2 to days worked ratios on here come from people counting unused reserve days as either days off or leaving them off of days worked. A questionable practice at best. Doesn't seem to be unique to any particular airline.

That would certainly make sense, however the “extensions” that Blkout is referring to are voluntary extensions in the field @ 200%. I’m never the smartest guy in the room, so I’m genuinely curious. Again, I knew that we (FedEx) had wide body FO’s getting close to and exceeding the 700k mark, but I assumed they were working far more than 118 days. I also assumed that some of that capability came from the advantages inherent in seniority, but he’s quite junior.

It doesn’t matter if they’re a commuter or not. If you can’t crack a beer open and switch off your phone, it’s NOT a day off.
