I sent in a petition to Schumer's office a while back voicing my opposition to raising the age, and five days ago I get an email back explaining reason for the last age change, followed by:

"At this time, no member of Congress has introduced any bill that would again raise the retirement age for commercial pilots during the current Congress; regardless, I will keep your concerns in mind."

As if it's not being discussed.

He doesn't understand that. In his mind, private pilots should be able to fly commercial jets. Clearly he doesn't understand why you need more than just a commercial license in order to operate an aircraft for compensation or hire. Likely, he is one of those "all government is bad government so just let operators kill whole families because that's capitalism" types.

The true free market would let anybody fly planes, and customers can decide if they want to buy tickets there.

Yeah…. Based on your other posts…. I’m not buying that statement. Unless by “feel bad about” you mean, in the same way you might see someone broke down on the interstate but you got somewhere to be….. “Mmm… Sorry bruh.”

Too bad the people on the ground wouldn't be able to decide to not get crashed into.

True free market they’d buy houses where planes don’t crash.

Sarcasm on both for those who missed it

I dealt with ATP mins. It was a cakewalk. If you can’t Instruct a year I don’t know what to say.

Yes, we are all familiar with how dumb laissez faire capitalism is.

“I’m not greedy…. YOU’RE greedy!!”

Oughta change the title of the thread.

There’s prob a number of compromises and solutions out there, some mentioned on this thread. But, the greediest are also usually the loudest…. On both sides of any issue, so ya gotta wade through 5 gross yada yada posts to get to one that makes a decent statement or asks a decent question.

Brutal. It’s like watching the vaccination thread all over again. I think I’m out for a while.

As if the training bottle necks haven’t been bad enough. I can see why management at the legacies are against this.
Yup. Exactly why govt making decisions about s#!t they know nothing about always helps right? Le sigh.

Unhappy

Wow. This thread has gotten really, REALLY ugly. There are some way over the top generalizations being thrown around. I’m just shaking my head.
