Here's an actual link to a real study. Airline pilots live 5.6 years longer than the average male. 83.8 vs 78.6. They only tracked 25 years of deaths...

Lots of pilots used to post that Boeing study/HR allegedly showed workers dying quicker the longer they worked. Boeing HR home page finally had POSTED a hoax/denial page on their homepage saying the alleged 'truth' was B.S.

Money may or may not buy happiness, but it's very clear statistically that it buys better health and longevity. No surprise.

In case anyone is confused on it, here's a refresher as to congressional priorities wrt to FAA reauthorization. The Rep. (from NJ if you hadn't guessed) gets straight to the point...

Education, longevity, health, lack of belief in conspiracies, etc, etc goes up with income. No surprise at the macro sense but at the individual micro level it's all over the place. Smart poor people, dumb wealthy people.

This kind of front-page media coverage might encourage congress to get a move-on with FAA reauthorization, especially with holidays looming...

I get what you are saying, but will this actually solve anything related to the controller problem? It was my understanding that the people (ie. race, sex and skin color) they are looking for just are not showing up and even if they opened the hiring, its a couple year process to get someone fully spooled up. You may be right in that it gets the bill done, but I dont think it will change much in regards to the shortage.

Had a relative with a BS in Computer Science who also heard after COVID that we were low on FAA controllers so he decided to apply in two different windows, both time he got the "your not the candidate were interviewing at this time" letter and invited to apply during the next window. After the second letter he got the message and moved on to the private sector is so far is happy as a clam.

No it probably won't fix much, certainly not in the next two weeks.

But it would give the appearance of doing something, anything.

i am not for raising it without a serious study, but as long as it happens 39 days from now, it will be a lot more palatable.
