I believe the last round of CRs funded “transportation” through mid January, but I never saw it specifically say if that included the FAA.

Pretty sure that included FAA (under DOT).

The FAA has been going around to the airlines and paying pilots holding 1st and 2nd class medicals to take a cognitive test. Only problem is they have little data on pilots in their 60's because nobody that age signs up to take it.

I am still sure most of the airlines are caught up on their hiring and there isn't a real pilot shortage besides nobody wanting to be a regional airline captain. All I read about is a bunch of freighters sitting around with more pilots than needed and couple mergers on the passenger side that usually result in a few years with no need to hire.

Alpa’s actions now will most certainly be part of significant class action lawsuits if the age doesn’t change. They are clearly supporting the younger members interests above over their most senior members. Alpa should have stayed neutral on age 67.

Most likely age 67 will happen in the next 6 months to a year. Time will tell. The part that really opens alpa up to dfr if the retro component (pilots over 65 under 67 coming back) is part of the final bill as it is in the house version.

There’s no data? New Zealand Australia had no mandatory retirement age for at least 10 years. New Zealand just had a pilot retire at 75 with no issues and a perfect safety and training record. Canada has no
retirement age. Yes, ALPA members at WestJet are flying above age 65. Japan has up to age 68 pilots flying g for sometime. Of what about all the over age 65 pilots in US flying fractional/135? . Yeah we have no data!

No pilot shortage? At United we have involuntary captain positions because of unfilled captain vacancies. Thats right new hires are being assigned captains. Yes, there is a pilot shortage!

Those unfilled slots at United have nothing to do with a shortage, lets not pretend otherwise. They are due to the QoL hit for a senior FO to take them.

As for your other points, sure there is data out there, fair point, but raising the age just screws everyone but those refusing to retire. Ask any Netjet FO how long their upgrade is, something like 15-20 years because you have 75 year olds still flying.

Nope try again. NetJet has less than 2 year upgrades . Also Net Jet has a mandatory retirement age of 70 - New law for larger fractionals if they want it. Net Jets enforcing it, FlexJet not, oh they have 7 month upgrades.

I guess a lot has changed in the last year over there, guess the majors hiring everyone in sight has helped. Good for them, assuming this is accurate, I stand corrected.
