I like it how we’re all pretending 65 is 85. For better or worse, people live longer and can be healthier than in the past. I had two LCAs do my IOE that were sharper than 80% of the dudes under 40 I fly with. And they’ll both be forced to retire within the year. There should be a scientific basis for retirement. Not some arbitrary number that transcends genetics and personal habits. For reference, look at pics some sexagenarians like Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks or Christie Brinkley. Age can be a deceptive thing. Also, I’m in my early forties, so I’m not biased for my career.

For reference flying with the majority of 64 year olds (LCA’s are not the majority) is already just babysitting them as their minds begin to slip. 67 year olds will be worse. If they want to make it mandatory to do cognitive tests above 63 then fine. Until then, no.

Yeah, nah. 64 year olds are not the dimentia ridden 90 year olds these boards make them out to be. Maybe a small minority of like 5% or less. But nothing to categorically dismiss an entire demographic over. Agree to disagree.

ALL the sponsors and cosponsors are republican. No surprise there. Too bad the Dems control both chambers. This is going nowhere.

That’s exactly what it does, just moves it two years.

Yep. Above 60, For every 1 top gun, I’ve flown with 5 middle of the road guys and 1 absolute horrorshow. The spread is not nearly that bad in the 50’s.

There is no compelling reason to do this. I’m not sure the legacy carriers would want this at all. Just going to be another 2 years of LTD to pay out for a huge portion and more time being unproductive at the top of the pay scale. Not to mention medical increases.

That's the same thing we all said about 65. How'd that work out?

Remember last time the retirement age changed and then the economy tanked shortly after. Man that was fun. Can’t wait to relive it. The increased health care premiums, and there will be sizable increases because of this, will be the least of our problems.

I hope every sponsor and co-sponsor of this legislation drops dead. The irony is that so many pilots voted for them.

Given how many travelers are not happy with airline cancellations, how do you think opposition to this bill will play out in the midterms?
