Exclamation

Thread re-opened since the FAA bill is now moving along. Discuss the facts and process only, all the generational infighting has already fully played out, feel free to scroll back through this thread if you need a fix.

No mention of age 67 in the current reporting...

No. It's still in the HR, which is on equal footing with the SR going into conference.

The fact that Politico doesn't mention it as a point of contention in the final push might mean that it's already assumed to be in the final bill, or not in the final bill.

Either it's already been agreed one way or another by those who matter, or maybe it's not newsworthy because nobody GAS except pilots.

If the jungle drums were saying that it was going to be a sticking point in conference then you'd think that would be newsworthy. Age 67 might not be newsworthy but the FAA bill is and this has to get resolved. Maybe it already has been. Conference is very opaque, driven by personalities and agendas from leadership, and possibly even key swing voters when margins of control are thin (they are).

The jungle drums are beating
With the tales from late last night
Cause stories bear repeating
For everyone's delight

You can hear em on the coconut telegraph
Can't keep nothin under their hat
You can hear em on the coconut telegraph
Sayin who did this and that
This and that this and that

Oh wait where am I? What day is this? What time is it? It's always 5 o'clock somewhere.

And my mind went to Jumanji. The GenX to GenY divide.

Apparently Cruz gave up 67 for the ability to skip TSA for all Congressmen and family. Sounds like the horse-trading is done. So is 67.

Laughing at anyone who thought this had a serious shot at getting passed. It was always just a convenient bargaining chip.

Laugh away. It was much closer than you apparently realize. Passed in the House and went down by one vote - one - in the Senate Commerce Committee. In the end it split along party lines and ALPA held sway over the Dems. Even then it could have gone either way in Conference Committee but apparently Schumer pulled the plug and Cancun Cruz wanted to skip TSA real bad.
