it’s hilarious that their lobbyist has been promising them they’ll win and leading them on the whole time.

If this doesn’t get resolved by May 10th it could go to a Continuing Resolution until Sep 30th. If that happens, due to the pending election, automatic CR until after the new Congress and President get sworn in… . Not a done deal until the President signs it… . There seems to be some big issues to resolve and not much time left to do it. The easy answer is to kick it to next year with a CR then everyone can get back on the campaign trail… .

Laugh away. It was much closer than you apparently realize. Passed in the House and went down by one vote - one - in the Senate Commerce Committee. In the end it split along party lines and ALPA held sway over the Dems. Even then it could have gone either way in Conference Committee but apparently Schumer pulled the plug and Cancun Cruz wanted to skip TSA real bad.

I lost any appetite to support age increases after witnessing a super senior Captain hired in the 90s (and never furloughed) with a straight face tell their some junior FOs that furlough fears over the age increase and stagnation were overblown because furloughs are no big deal- the senior guys donate a ton of money through ALPA and take care of all the pilots out on furlough so they and their families don't have to worry about anything while they're out, and how ALPA even pays their mortgages if they're in danger of losing their house so it was okay to increase the age a couple more years because even the new hires "will be taken care of."
