How many retire from UA by 2030?
Retirements are really all that matter since United's "we're gonna hire 8000" plan is contingent on the economy not going to **** which is a little bit unrealistic.

I can't believe I'm making one of these threads.
34 years old. 13 months at AA, live in NE Ohio, fly the C-17 close by, have 8 years left to 20 for the military retirement.
Bidding 20% NYC FO on narrow body, very easy commute, but still a commute, decent schedule for a year on property, could be a line holding 777 FO in another year in NYC, have thought about bidding 737 captain when I wouldn't be the very bottom. We all know AA's pros and shortcomings so I'll save the typing. Was planning on moving to a senior AA base and commuting the military gig eventually.
Have the opportunity to jump to United where I can drive to work at CLE or commute to ORD for a better run airline with more wide bodies and a desire to not be the worlds largest regional.
Obviously contract 2023 is the big unknown for both places. Frankly I am keeping my FedEx app updated, but that's a pipe dream at best.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm trying to make a decision.
Thank you all.

It's not even about how I feel, I'm just being objective when looking at our route network, half the widebodies and not really a significant west coast presence. That and the last proposed TA essentially added airport standby.
I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm trying to make a decision.
Thank you all.

CAW appeared to have loopholes that if scheduling wanted to get creative could result in pilots waiting for a reassignment at the airport. It was voted down probably in part for the loose language concerning CAW. United has straight up airport standby. No trip cancellation and reassignment required. You’re going to get dressed and commute to where ever for the purpose of sitting at the airport on stby. Have a blast.

There are more retirements at AA. That’s why I said he’d be better off staying at AA.

Which is why I said the same thing. The only wave that matters is upward movement honestly. Hiring projections change constantly, growth can turn into shrinkage instantly, etc. He made the wave at AA and missed the wave at UA now that 3000(?) have been hired at UA in the last 18 months.

I would stay at AA, based on your time here that means you have napkin math of 2100-2500 people below you. With AA planning on hiring 2000 more next year. That’s 4100-4500. Say you go to UA in Jan and they hire 2000-2500 next year, you are in the same spot as now just with a lot more younger folks than you that are flying the widebodies there that will always have the seniority over you.
like others said go all in at UPS if that’s your goal. If you are just wanting to fly WB then you will get it within a year here at AA, maybe sooner with the new vacancy since we all know those numbers they don’t mean a lot. But also, drop long mil orders for a year or 2 if you can take a 2 year agr gig flying the c-17 and come back with great seniority.
Remember most junior guy gets furloughed (which you know this), I would rather have a bigger pad on that and right now you are building a nice one.
also, at some point UA has to retire those old 75/76’s so how much of that new WB order is replacement vs growth? They are def figuring it out on using their 75’s to look at new markets before putting a 78 on it something we can’t do right now.
lastly airlines ebb and flows, who’s number one today isn’t necessarily going to be number one tomorrow. But your seniority sure matters.
best of luck! Make the right choice for you and your family try to keep emotions out of it.
