Why is your training dept passing them? Or, perhaps, you want to create a false narrative? And why might that be? If I was going to use the exact same ruler to fail someone in the sim, a person in year 1-2 of employment would fail at a higher rate than someone 63-65 yrs old. I'll see you in the sim.
Hard data says otherwise.

Fwiw few 60 year olds do initial quals and when they do they’re not going to out perform 30-40 year olds or even 20 year olds. It’s not even close in any way shape or form. The younger kids are more obedient, study better, fly better, work harder, and break less. Older ones like me do the opposite but we pass more gas.

Btw teaching and evaluating 100 sims a year isn’t that much. I do about 200-230 per year and I’d say I’m not working as much as others. I’m too old for that.

To be honest I’m not sure if there still is the age 23 requirement but that’s what should be eliminated.

I hit a nerve didn’t I. The training standards are so watered down, anyone can pass recurrent at a major. The guys I’m talking with struggle in the real, dynamic world. Especially after a redeye or a long duty day.

The old guys struggle keeping up with simple tasks such as a last minute runway change. Easy to accomplish in the sim world.

Which hard data? US fatal accidents since the change to 65?
When was the last fatal mishap in the US and which airline was it? (2 hints: just over a decade ago and it was Asiana flight 214). That's not the hard data you're looking for.

I’d like to see ASAP reports. I bet >60 is a good α (significance).

A few months after I retired in 2020 @ 65, I got an email invite from United to apply for an operation they were starting with ERJ-145’s. Pretty much all recent retirees got the email. I heard it was going to be a dedicated sports charter operation. I turned it down and thought it stupid to use a Barbie Jet to fly athletes around .

Anyway, I was wondering if that ever got off the ground and if so, are they still operating?

Dismygamertag, Sounds like you are a loser who lives in his moms basement playing online video games all the time. A guy who has seniority envy and wants everyone out of his seat.

Don’t know where you work but I think your opinions on age related issues are a bit skewed.

i fly with a lot of young new guys around the world. They are sharp but lacking experience that they will pick up as they do more international ops. I don’t disparage them or look down on them like you do for older guys.

You must be a gem to fly with or have as a sim instructor. If you pulled any age crap on me in a sim things would stop there and we would be talking to the head of training faster than you can hit reset on the sim.

Who wants to fly past 60? Sorry 2 ex wives and poor financial planning left you with no retirement but it’s time to move on.

3 black swan events, a several year furlough, and a bankruptcy makes it tough to get to 3-4 million with no divorces. I plan on being done at 60 but it’s going to be close on the numbers assuming there’s not another downgrade/contract gut in the next decade.

No ex wives, high 7 figure retirement savings, little debt, handful of rental homes, plus nice pension waiting for me. With vacation and bidding hardly working. Money and lifestyle you wish you had.

I enjoy flying trips around the world every other month or so. Plenty of hobbies too. Spent over 45 days this winter racing sailboats in the Caribbean and Florida this winter.

Sorry to bust your old pilot expectations. Looks like age 67 is going to happen. Go cry some more in your mothers basement.

Enjoy it. You’re a heart attack away from losing it all, old man.
