Some of those pilots never sat reserve as FOs and now can already hold a line as LGA737 captains if they so choose.

I’ll be surprised if American hires more than Delta this year. I’m guessing it’s no where near 1800. You’re in denial.

Why do you believe this? AA’s hiring wave started later than Delta’s and AA has about 50-60% more retirements annually for about the next five years.

My dad played tennis at 83. My mom still travels by herself accross the atlantic to visit at 82. All their siblings are still alive past 80. Totally understand your rationale, but I am more worried about time without income.

Why? What would happen to you at 85 if you ran out of 401k? Walk us through it. You reverse mortgage your house, you collect what SS there is, if you truly go broke, you can apply for elderly subsidized housing. That’s a scenario that keeps one up at night? I’m thoroughly confused.

everything about the demographics of the two groups would suggest AA will hire more than DL for the foreseeable future

Call me spoiled, but I would like to avoid being broke and old, I was broke when I was younger, and I am getting older, can't say I like either..... And I would like to leave my kids at least the family home. My in-laws are also rapidly approaching 90 and still lliving without help. All 4 still travelling and enjoying life until well past 80. Good chance I will be in that position, so that is what I plan for. If that means working longer and harder: my choice, my problem.

Just imagine all the opportunities with your resume. I’m sure you can find something that pays well and allows you to work as long as you want. Best of luck and congrats on winning the genetic lottery.

If you're making in excess of $200k per year, retire at normal retirement age and run out of money at 85, you didn't plan very well.
