can’t believe you want the nanny state tell you what you’re allowed to eat.

It’s interesting to see that at other airlines. I know people do, but I have yet to an actually see an FO or CA actually carry food with them on a trip at United. Do you guys not get fed on board?

Yes, I know one too. Marathon runner, navy officer, ex-enlisted marine, keeled over dead in his 40's while an active member of a special operations unit. Didn't want to take the meds, was very aggressive about diet and exercise but it wasn't enough given his numbers.

Again I do all that, and so do most of the folks I fly with (who are mostly all old).

But that's why I want a *representative* study. I don't know but I suspect the age is too low. Or maybe it's too high, let the chips fall where they may
Make friends with some long hall pilots. More than just the cargo I eluded too. It’s tough to take care of yourself. Narrow body is easier.

My Union speaks for me. ALPA call to action complete.

Even if they change later.

I’d call it hope rather than projection. Hope that we were talking about facts that are relevant to the discussion. The discussion is about age 67 in pilots. Any relevant statistic isn’t going to come out of data on the health of Yemeni men in their sixties. Hence my comment about Western first-world countries. I don’t believe the relevant data exists. Nobody has a Cog analysis with that scope. What does exist is the safety data broken down by age in countries that allow 65+. The efficacy of using those statistics to prove or disprove safety is suspect.

Speaking of suspect …… The Commonwealth Fund is rated as center-left. More importantly, their factual reporting is rated as high. The studies’ ‘biased source’ ? There are three sources - the Commonwealth Fund, the World Health Organization, and OECD. If you don’t believe the numbers, then we disagree. People come here to get surgeries for two reasons. If you pay enough, you can have anything. Pay more, and you can have it quickly too. If you travel a mile across our southern border, there’s an entire city devoted to dental and maxillofacial medicine. It’s the same dynamic.

Is ALPA lobbying against the age to ICAO? It seems like ICAO is really the one holding all the cards…

I doubt ICAO would listen.

Unions aren't really relevant in international politics. The path for ALPA influence is to lobby the US administration, since that's who does diplomacy with UN agencies. The same administration which just appointed a pro 67 activist as US ambassador to ICAO.

Not to say that ALPA won't tilt at the windmill anyway, just for the optics to appease the membership.

No, but I'm OK with them telling mfgs what they can market as "food".
