EPAS reporting that Nehls is reintroducing the let elderly pilots die in a hotel overseas act today.
Senate confirmed 48 “en bloc” nominees today. Jeff Anderson (big raise the retirement age guy) wasn’t one of them. There isn’t a scheduled vote tomorrow for more nominees.
So, it looks like the United States probably won’t have an ICAO ambassador by the ICAO session next week. Anthony Clare will continue in the temporary position. He hasn’t stated either way if he supports increasing the age.
It’s a blow to EPAS/LEPF.

I haven’t heard any lies about safety.
If you randomly chose 100 70-year-olds and 100 50-year-olds to take a cognitive test, the 50-year-olds would do better. Cognitive decline is not a myth.
Not to mention that there are a fewer 70-year-olds than there are 50-year-olds. That’s about the time deaths start to accelerate. Also not a myth.

Discussions on extending the retirement age do not appear to be on the ICAO agenda. A warm congratulations to all our recent retireees!

But that is often limited to elective surgeries, or things like dental. If my finances were constrained I'd have no problem going to Mexico if I needed costly dental work (not accounting for safety). If I needed arterial stents, maybe not so much.

But that's easy for me to say, I've already achieved some success here... I sure wouldn't want to be starting out at age 18 over there, nothing like the same opportunities as in the US. Most especially if you have any entrepreneurial bent.

Fun to visit. Would live in some (almost did a couple times) if I could get transferred there for a few years with my US employer.
Might even live part time in Europe in retirement.
But that's easy for me to say, I've already achieved some success here... I sure wouldn't want to be starting out at age 18 over there, nothing like the same opportunities as in the US. Most especially if you have any entrepreneurial bent.

What's actually happening is that they're engaging in luxury beliefs - virtue signal online but never follow through, because implicitly they know that if they did they would have to live with the real life consequences of following the ideas they support. I.e - super high taxes, low wages, economic stagnation, waiting months for routine medical work.

Notice they always disregard that they'd be making pennies on the dollar for the same type of work as they do here. It's always a convenient excuse, but the reality is that Americans who do actually want to move overseas do so readily.

Getting back to the thread, Nehls has formally reintroduced the LEPF Act.
Again DOA unless ICAO moves on 67 because they won't get 60 votes in the senate unless ICAO forces the Dems hands.
